We all know what maternity pants look like, right? Basically, they are just like regular pants, but as an added bonus, there’s a giant, comfortable elastic waistband that’s supposed to wrap around your baby bump. Or, in this case, just your regular stomach.
Non-pregnant people are rocking maternity pants as regular fashion, and it’s definitely giving us some food for thought…
Remember in “Friends” when Phoebe whips out her maternity pants and explains that they’re “great” for shoplifting melons?
While we don’t condone shoplifting, she does have a point about wearing them after the baby is born.
Just because you’re not pregnant anymore doesn’t mean you have to pack the pants away.
Then, later on, we see Joey storm in wearing his “Thanksgiving pants” which are literally just Phoebe’s maternity pants.
He has to wear them so he can eat an inhuman amount of turkey and other delicious food which, again, has us thinking that he’s on to something.
We checked in with Twitter, and you guys, I had no idea that so many people are literally wearing maternity pants, even though they’re not pregnant.
I mean, why haven’t I heard about this before?I feel like I’ve been kept in the dark about some big secret.
There were a good number of women who were unsure if wearing maternity pants was insulting to pregnant women.
Was it some weird taboo thing that you wouldn’t technically get in trouble for doing but would probably get the side-eye at Starbucks or something?
I mean, it’s a fair question.
Are pregnant women insulted by non-pregnant women wearing maternity jeans?Is it regarded as a rite of passage, and you can only wear these magic pants when you’re expecting a baby?
Based on how many women (on Twitter, anyway) rock these jeans on a day-to-day basis, something tells me that it’s not that big of a deal.
In fact, some women seem to be proud of it!
I think that pride is the best thing to come from this fashion “trend.”
Women are, for the most part, unapologetic about wearing these pants. And why shouldn’t they be? Why can’t everybody rock comfortable pants?
One Twitter user shared a different reason for wearing maternity jeans.
She has scars on her stomach that cause her pain if she wears regular jeans. After years of just wearing leggings, she realized that maternity jeans might work for her, and they did!
Khloé Kardashian even expanded her Good American line and released maternity jeans!
Fans were really excited about this news, and again, even the ones who weren’t pregnant were excited to buy the pants.

Overall, the vast majority of Twitter was all for the maternity pants because it’s easier to eat with them on.
And I mean, it’s basic science and good common sense.
If you guys need me, I’ll be out at the nearest mall, shopping for some maternity pants.
