There’s no denying the past year has not been great for anyone. The world truly turned upside down and everyone is feeling the repercussions, including the rich and famous! And while I’m not one to empathize with millionaires, I do love Angelina Jolie and all the good she has done for the world.
Now, the 45-year-old is opening up to fans in a new, emotional interview with British Vogue about how life has been treating herself and her family amid the pandemic.
Angelina Jolie is one of the most famous women in the world.
Her career and philanthropic efforts have cemented her into the heart of pop culture forever.
As many fans know, Angelina and ex-husband Brad Pitt share six children together —19-year-old Maddox, 17-year-old Pax, 16-year-old Zahara, 14-year-old Shiloh, and 12-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.
To say Angelina’s life is full would be an understatement.
When asked by British Vogue if she was happy at this stage of her life, she said she wasn’t sure.
“I don’t know,” she replied.
“I’ve been focusing on healing our family.”
“It’s slowly coming back, like the ice melting and the blood returning to my body,” she explained.
The actress continued, saying she looks forward to her 50s.
“I feel that I’m gonna hit my stride in my fifties,” she continued.
“Maybe because… I don’t know… maybe because my mom didn’t live very long, so there’s something about age that feels like a victory instead of a sadness for me.”
“So I like it. I’m looking forward to my fifties.”
“Though we were on the trampoline the other day, and the children said, ‘No, Mom, don’t do that. You’ll hurt yourself.'”
“And I thought, ‘God, isn’t that funny?'”
“There was a day I was an action star, and now the kids are telling me to get off the trampoline because I’ll hurt myself.”
As Angelina puts it, “I was never very good at sitting still.”
The 45-year-old explained that her desire for action and adventure has left her struggling with being a traditional housemaker.
“I feel like I’m lacking in all the skills to be a traditional stay-at-home mom.”
“Even though I wanted to have many children and be a mom, I always imagined it kind of like Jane Goodall, traveling in the middle of the jungle somewhere,” Angelina explained.
“I didn’t imagine it in that true, traditional sense.”
She continued: “They’re helping me, but I’m not good at it at all.”
However, Angelina is enjoying having young adults on her hands.
“I was best friends with my mom.”
“I loved having babies, but I love sitting up at night and talking to my kids. I like the teenage years. I like the older years. I love hanging out with them.”
She went on to reveal more intimate details of her split from Brad Pitt.
“I separated for the wellbeing of my family,” she explained. “It was the right decision. I continue to focus on their healing.”
It sounds like Angelina is doing the best she can and we appreciate her vulnerability!
