Welcome to another addition of “cake artists just being wizards.” In this episode, you’ll see cake artist Yolanda Gampp from the YouTube channel and eponymous Instagram account How To Cake It show us how to transform some chocolate cake, fondant and clear piping gel into the summery inflatable pool of our dreams.
When looking at a cake like this, it’s hard to believe that it’s actually edible. I mean, it looks exactly like a mini inflatable pool.
It’s very much real, and if you have the patience of a Millennial trying to get into the housing market, then you can actually follow along to Yolanda’s recipe.
Just a warning, this cake was made for sweet tooths.
It requires 24 pounds of chocolate cake, meringue buttercream icing, seven different fondant colors, and 6 pounds of clear piping gel.
You’ll definitely want to set aside a whole day to tackle this project.
The attention to detail is truly otherworldly.
Each layer of fondant is carefully carved over the cake to give the impression of an inflatable pool blown up.
Not only that, but design details are also carved out of fondant along with a ton of pool accessories to really add to the vibe.
This isn’t just a cake—it’s art.
This is quite the quarantine activity if you’re looking to try something new!
If you want to give it a try, head to her blog post for the full recipe and details on how to tackle your very own.
