I also have a narcissistic mother with ridiculous standards (and if I ever reached those heights, she’d move the goalpost). Unfortunately, unlike your son, my father was a deadbeat absentee that fled when I was a toddler and currently has a new family with 4 stepkids he dotes on, living in my birth country. I on the other hand ended up stuck in the UK with only my brother and psycho mother, with no where else to run to.
