When you’re in the public eye, everything you do gets scrutinized by the world. When you’re a parent posting about your experiences online, you’re bound to run into a good deal of criticism.
So, when you’re a celebrity parent , you kind of get the worst of both. In fact, the celebs in this list aren’t the only ones to ever face parenting backlash. While some criticism might be valid or well-meaning, a lot of it is pretty harsh.

Kylie Jenner.
Kylie Jenner is no stranger to going viral online (for good and bad reasons). But in 2018, when she posted a pic of herself with newborn Stormi, people were pretty quick to wonder how she can handle a baby with such long nails.
Having long acrylics would make it pretty difficult to change a diaper.
As People reported, many onlookers wondered how Jenner could perform basic parenting tasks , like diaper changing and bathing. Her parenting (or seeming lack thereof) was put into question.
But a source told People that, while she definitely had access to nannies and plenty of help, Jenner was a great mom.
Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi.
Once known for her presence in the reality TV/party scene, Snooki calmed down a lot after becoming a mother. In a 2018 Instagram post, she shared a pic of her daughter alongside the daughter of co-star JWoww, dressed for The Situation’s wedding.
But people took issue with her daughter’s clothing.
Commenters said her daughter, Giovanna, looked messy, and should’ve been wearing more expensive clothes. Snooki clapped back by saying, ” I let my daughter pick her own outfits. I let her express herself. Are you a mother? Worry about your own damn kids, and let us live.”
Megan Fox.
Megan Fox has received a lot of backlash for her parenting over the year. Why? Because she allows her son, Noah, to wear dresses and skirts. Noah dressed as a zombie cheerleader for Halloween in 2018, skirt and all.
He’s also been known to wear an Elsa (‘Frozen’) dress.
Some onlookers have criticized this, believing that young boys shouldn’t dress as girls. But both Fox and Noah’s father, Brian Austin Greene, have defended their son’s expression and gender non-conformity . Some people must really love to complain.
Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel.
Biel and Timberlake tend to keep their son, Silas, away from the public eye, often posting pictures of him without showing his face. But in 2018, a picture Timberlake posted of Biel kissing their long-haired son sparked a lot of controversy.
Both the long hair and the romper he was wearing angered some commenters.
Many complained that they should cut his hair and keep him from dressing too “feminine,” but like with Megan Fox’s son, it seems like people are complaining for no real reason.
David Beckham.
In 2017, Beckham faced parenting backlash. Why? Because he posted a picture of himself kissing then-5-year-old daughter, Harper, on the lips. Some people were outraged and disgusted by this display of affection, going as far as to claim that it’s too “sexual.”
But for both David and Victoria, this is completely normal.
In fact, plenty of other celebrities (and regular parents) kiss their kids on the lips. But others came to the Beckham family’s defense , stating that there’s nothing wrong or “sexual” about it.
Jessica Simpson.
Simpson faced backlash in 2018 when she posted a video of her son, Ace Knute, doing a backflip in a swimming pool. People were concerned because Ace had broken his arm and was wearing a cast at the time.
Others came to her defense, though.
Her son was wearing a waterproof cast, and, as a commenter put it, ” he is in the pool and with his parents doing what kids do. ” There are definitely worse things that kid could’ve been doing.
Mila Kunis.
The world rejoiced when Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher finally got together in real life, and started a family of their own. But people began taking issue with Kunis after breastfeeding (which is a perfectly normal and natural thing to do) in public.
For whatever reason, this was still a controversial action in 2016.
Despite being shamed, Kunis didn’t back down, saying, “Why did I do it in public? Because I had to feed my child. She’s hungry. I need to feed her whether it’s out of a bottle or out of my boob no matter where I was.”
P!nk.
P!nk got slammed and shamed back in 2017 for taking an Instagram pic where she was cooking with her kids. This included having her then-infant son, Jameson Moon, in a sling strapped around the singer and mother’s chest.
Many believed she was too close to the hot stove.
Jameson, who was closer to the stove than P!nk in the picture, was at a higher risk of being splattered by hot oil. While some were outright condemning the photo , others took a much more patient and understanding approach.
Mariah Carey.
2018 was a busy year for celebrity parent shamers, because that was the same year Carey posted a video of herself singing holiday megahit “All I Want For Christmas Is You” alongside her kids, in a moving car.
The problem, they didn’t have their seatbelts on.
Which, to be fair, is a pretty valid criticism. Many took to social media to caution the star over this, since car safety is kind of a big deal. Hopefully she took it to heart!
Denise Richards.
Richards faced some pretty unique backlash just last month when it was revealed that she would be collaborating on OnlyFans (of all places) with daughter Sami Sheen, who recently joined the platform.
Yes, the website known for racy and explicit content. Definitely not something you’d expect to see a mother and daughter on together.
Richards complimented her daughter’s confidence.
Some had issue with the way Richards supported her daughter’s choice to be on OnlyFans, but the criticism really ramped up with their decision to collaborate. After all, the nature of the site doesn’t seem very family friendly.
