So this is the Big Bang Theory fan theory to end all fan theories. You hear that, fan theorists? There will under no circumstances be another fan theory after you hear this one.
Shut down the fan theory Reddit, ban Tumblr from the internet, it’s time to end this charade.
The Big Bang Theory ended in 2019

Much to the dismay of its fans, but much to the joy of its haters. What a strange and wonderful world we live in.
Regardless, since its end, fans have been desperately trying to keep the flame alive.
And how do you inject life into a once-dead property?

With a reboot– (sounds of someone being stuffed into a bag and dragged off).
No! You do it with a fan theory! Something that adds a layer to the show you didn’t think of before!
Fan theories are always a little strange

It’s usually either A) the characters are actually dead or B) something creepy and out of place. This fan theory, given by Redditor Pick234 is actually a little bit of both!
So you know how we never see Howard’s mom, but we always hear from her? Well, this Reddit user suggests…
That Howard’s mom is dead

And Howard has just been either imagining her or emulating her voice the whole time. A lot like Norman Bates!
So now we’ve taken a creepy character and made him even creepier! Thanks, fan theories!
I know what you’re thinking

Oh, now you’re just trying to inject something creepy into the show, I hear you say. Well, firstly, that’s seemingly the point of fan theories and secondly, it might not all be baloney.
This is one of those rare occasions where even though the theory probably isn’t true…
It totally could be
Not just because we never see Howard’s mother in any of the 279 episodes (and we meet all the other parents at least once), and not just because the set up is eerily close to that of Psycho’s …
But there’s also his strange aptitude for magic

He has a strange interest in magic and ventriloquism. Then again, it shouldn’t be strange, this is a show about the world’s biggest geeks after all.
We find out about Howard’s knack for ventriloquism when he finds Bernadette’s childhood puppet, Tammy Jo St. Cloud.
He picked up the dummy

In that episode, Howard was desperate to find something embarrassing in his wife’s past and managed to find an old ventriloquist dummy. Which he then used to talk to his wife, with unsurprising skill.
He’s already got the ventriloquist skills down

So we can infer that he’s using those same skills to talk for his mother. Who, as we have established, has been dead by some unknown reason for many of years.
Now there are obviously problems with this theory.
For starters:
We have seen some of his friends interact with her, that much is for certain.
But that doesn’t mean the fan theory can’t somewhat be true.
What if his friends are playing along with him?

What if they are just making sure to keep him happy by just pretending everything is fine?
Mind you, with Sheldon around that may not be possible…
And then there’s this one clip
This is of Bernadette and Howard’s wedding.
Not only is there a lot of ‘ventriloquism’ that Howard would have to do, but the fact that Bernadette is constantly looking off to the side and yelling at Howard’s mom is unsettling…
There’s something strange if you look closely

And then we have the shot where we zoom out and see the woman in red. She’s off to the left where Bernadette and Howard were yelling.
Sure does look like Howard’s mom, doesn’t it? So again, is she really there, or just a figment of Howard’s very active imagination?
What we know is this

He could very easily be imagining that she is alive. And it could be that he is also imagining his friends interacting with them. It’s all part of his grief.
