Quora can be a double-edged sword when it comes to seeking answers. When you ask, you might end up getting confirmation for what you already believe. Other times, you might get torn apart. That’s what happened when this question popped up:

Defending the employer can only really get you so far. Yeah, there’s no reason to rock the boat if it isn’t doing anything to harm people. But pushing more hours on people who were hired to do a set amount? Don’t be that kind of suck up.

Contracts are important for many reasons. If an employer furloughs you or doesn’t pay you because the company can’t find the money, they protect everybody legally.
It also sets out the standards and requirements of the job before you start, keeping things in the clear and avoiding the scenario where a CEO has to ask Quora for advice.
