Selena Gomez Dropped A New Song That Definitely Shades Justin Bieber

Last night, at midnight, Selena Gomez just dropped an emotional breakup ballad that couldn't be more clearly about her ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber.

This tea is hot.

On Tuesday night, Selena Gomez dropped an emotional bombshell on us in the form of a breakup ballad, "Lose You To Love Me."

She simultaneously released the visual for it: A simple, black and white, teen-angst-esque music video.

But what's more gripping than the fact that Selena finally gave us new music is that the song is obviously about her toxic on-again-off-again relationship of yesteryear, with Justin Bieber.

One we will never forget.

"Lose You To Love Me" is the farewell we've been needing for Jelena.

While the song contains uplifting lyrics about self-love, it also throws mad shade at Biebs.

Not only do the lyrics throw shade, but I'd like to point out the timing of which the song was released also seems suspiciously convenient...

Seeing as Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin celebrated their marriage one month ago.

The pair tied the knot privately last year, but went full eleganza extravaganza for their reception.

So yeah, seeing your ex getting married isn't always the best feeling ever.

Before I dissect the lyrics of "Lose You To Love Me," I'd like to conduct a small history lesson on Jelena's crash-and-burn romance, for those of you that don't know or can't remember.

Hollywood Life

Our story dates all the way back to 2009...

Justin Bieber still had his signature sweepy bowl-cut hairdo, "Wizards of Waverly Place" starring Selena Gomez was still going strong — all was right in the world.

The Hollywood Gossip

But instead, they hit it off, one thing led to another, and before we knew it, they were dating.

At first they denied their romance, insisting that they were just friends. At one point, Selena even referred to Justin as her "little brother".

But the lies eventually subsided, and then it was PDA-central for these two.

With 2012 came the first of many (emphasis on "many") breakups.

But one month later, they were back together.

This on-again off-again pattern happened *several* more times in the years to follow.

Hollywood Life

While the pair were broken up in 2015, Justin released his album, "Purpose", which he later revealed was a Selena-inspired album.

He admitted on The Ellen Degeneres Show that three of the songs on that album were written about Selena.

Naturally, the pattern continued — they got back together, but not for long.

We Heart It

Months later, it was splitsville yet again.

This time, while he and Selena were broken up, Justin was seen hanging out with Sofia Richie, Hailey Baldwin, Kendall Jenner, the list goes on.

Entertainment Tonight

And Selena had a significant relationship with The Weeknd.

In late 2017 and early 2018, Selena and Justin were spending a ton of time together, showing lots of PDA — they even went on a romantic New Years Eve trip.

This continued until April 2018, when they broke up for good.

We all assumed that they would eventually get back together, though. Because they always did.

But instead of getting back together with Selena, Justin rekindled things with his old flame, Hailey Baldwin, in June.

And the rest is history, of course.

Now, let's get into these lyrics, shall we?

The library is officially OPEN.

Fans are speculating that Selena's lyrics: “Set fire to my purpose and I let it burn / You got off in the hurtin’ when I wasn’t yours,” are about Justin's aforementioned 2015 album "Purpose".

Later in the song, she gets even more specific...

“In two months you replaced us like it was easy / Made me think I deserved it in the thick of healing.”

Need I remind you that Justin moved on to his now-wife, Hailey, precisely two months after his be-all-end-all of breakups with Selena?

She also sings the line: "Sang off-key in my chorus 'cause it wasn't yours."

Is it just a coincidence that Justin Bieber is, in fact, a singer?

Is this song obviously about her turbulent relationship and breakup from Justin Bieber? Or are we reaching?
