Once again, we continue our streak of ruining everyone’s movie experience by nitpicking the littlest of mistakes in the Harry Potter series.

1. The Boggart
After the scene with the Boggart, Harry asks Lupin why the professor didn’t give him a chance with the mystical shapeshifting creature.
Lupin replies because he was afraid the thing would turn into you know who.
As in, you know, Voldemort.
Well, here’s the issue Lupin, old boy: The Boggart had already turned into a dementor before you could jump in front of Harry.
So you already knew it wasn’t going to be Voldemort.
2. Hermione’s Time Turner Is Visible
In the moments after Malfoy is mauled by Buckbeak, Hermione goes up to Hagrid to tell him to take Malfoy to Madam Pomfrey.
During this time, her Time-Turner is totally visible, even though it’s supposed to be hidden.
3. The Broken Urn
When the rock breaks the urn the first time, we see that it’s broken into three pieces.
However, the second time (when Hermione does it herself) it is in several large pieces.
4. The Peter Pettigrew Plot Hole
Alright, so we know that at one point and time, Harry sees the name “Peter Pettigrew” on the map.
We know that he also at one point notices it next to “Ronald Weasley.”
How come this never came up before?
How come George and Fred Weasley were never confused as to why their brother was sleeping with someone named “Peter Pettigrew?”
Did they just not want to embarrass him?
5. The Messed Up Tie
As you can see, Harry’s tie is completely backward in this shot, with the thin part being longer than the thick part.
This could be forgiven if it wasn’t for the fact that in the next shot, it’s perfectly fine.
6. Lupin’s Skulls
See those skulls on the shelf?
In the subsequent shots, they’re either moved or not there at all. I feel like a lot of this can be attributed to magic or just bad continuity.
7. The Bed Breaks, But Then It Doesn’t
At the moment where Harry knocks Snape unconscious after using Expelliarmus on him, the professor flies back and breaks the bed.
When it cuts back to him, he’s on the perfectly intact bed.
8. Hermione’s Hair Length
Throughout the whole movie, Hermione’s hair length changes.
Sure, you could chalk this up to the fact that she might get haircuts…if it wasn’t for the fact that it changes between adjacent shots.
9. The Hermione Punch
As you can see here, Hermione puts her wand up to Malfoy’s neck with her right hand.
However, when she punches him in the face, she uses her right hand… sans wand.
10. The Ridikkulus Line
When the whole class is lining up to use the Ridikkulus charm against the Boggart, at first it’s Ron, then Seamus, then Harry.
However, when it comes to Ron’s turn, it’s him then Parvati then Harry.
No cuts!
11. Ron’s Pimples
Poor Ron (or, sorry, Rupert Grint). It must’ve been hard growing up, going through puberty, and having that puberty broadcast to the entire world.
Anyways, the pimples on his face move around from shot to shot. This is probably because he kept getting new ones and getting rid of the old ones.
12. Harry Kicked Off The Knight Bus
When the Knight Bus begins to come, Harry is leaning back on his arms, his sweatshirt draped over his shoulder. In the next shot, the sweater is on perfectly.
Magic sweater, perhaps?
13. Not Harry
Talking about the Boggart line again, there’s a scene where Harry is standing behind Parvati (just as she’s about to step up to the Boggart) only it’s not Harry behind her.
It’s a stand-in.
14. The Door
There’s a scene at the end of the movie in the Shrieking Shack where Lupin comes in and says: “Finally the flesh reflects the madness.”
The door next to him faces inwards and then outwards between one cut.
15. The Scraps
At the beginning of the movie, when Harry drops the Monster Book of Monsters, the scraps of torn paper are already at his feet before the book has a chance to do anything.
16. The Feet At The Execution
When they’re listening to Buckbeak’s “execution,” Hermione and Ron start out with their feet really close together.
However, when Scabbers bites Ron, their feet are suddenly pretty far apart.
17. Letting Aunt Marge and Uncle Vernon In
When Harry lets Aunt Marge and Uncle Vernon into the house, there is actually a third person with them.
Not any character in the movie, but a cameraman holding an umbrella.
18. Looking At The Werewolf
When Harry and Hermione are running away from the werewolf, they hide behind a tree and then sneakily walk around it to get a better look at the horrible beast.
When the werewolf eventually spots them, we see that Harry is at least a foot away from Hermione.
However, in the next cut, it looks like they’re standing side by side.
19. Not Sunlit
When the class is entering the Hippogriff paddock, the first shot we see of the place is totally sunlit.
However, when the shots go from wide to close, the place is not sunlit.
20. What Did Fudge Say?
There’s a moment when Fudge is standing behind Harry’s chair and Harry asks: “Sirius Black, you mean?”.
You can see Fudge’s mouth move! He says “Yes” but there is no audio heard.
21. The Button That Pegs Dudley
When Aunt Marge is blowing up, we see a button pop off and nail Dudley right in his smug little face.
Of course, this sends the guy to the ground…
Where he lies for a moment like the dog he is.
However, in literally the next shot, Dudley is at the table like nothing happened.
As though we didn’t just see him get punked by a button.
22. The Water Bottle
At the moment where the Dementors invade the train, there’s a shot of a water bottle jiggling on a shelf.
In literally the next shot, the bottle stands perfectly still.
23. Harry Petting Buckbeak and Ron’s Reaction
At the moment where Harry finally gets to pet Buckbeak, we hear Ron say “Does he get to fly?”
A good question Ron, but it would help if your lips were moving.
24. Sirius’ Magical Poster
We all know that the Wanted posters in the Harry Potter universe all move.
However, there are a couple of shots in the Leaky Cauldron where his magical poster doesn’t move.
25. Another Double
In the punch scene “replay” there’s a moment where Harry has his back turned and is walking. Yet he is much stockier. And walks different.
Some say this may be a double.
26. “The Bitch And The Pup” Turn
There’s a scene where Aunt Marge says “The bitch and the pup” to Harry and he yells at her.
Mrs. Dursley turns to look at Harry, but in the next cut, she’s looking at the table.
27. The Tablecloth
Speaking of that scene, there’s a moment when Mrs. Dursley says “Vernon do something” and we can see the table cloth is undisturbed.
Yet, when we cut, we see crinkles in the thing.
28. Snape’s Double
This time, the double is not for Harry!
It’s when he knocks Snape back onto the bed with an Expelliarmus. It’s obviously not Alan Rickman being pushed onto the bed, but some double.
