Bernie Sanders Hospitalized For Heart Surgery And Puts Campaign On Hold

Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders has undergone emergency heart surgery to unblock an artery and has canceled his future campaign events until further notice.

"He was experiencing some chest discomfort at the event on Tuesday," Sanders's advisor Jeff Weaver said in a statement, according to CNBC.

He went on to explain that the 78-year-old underwent testing, and a blocked artery was found.

According to Weaver, Sanders had two stents inserted during a procedure and is now in stable condition.

"Sen. Sanders is conversing and in good spirits," he continued.

"He will be resting up over the next few days."

Weaver continued to say that Sanders' future appearances are on hold. "We are canceling his events and appearances until further notice," the statement continued, "And we will continue to provide appropriate updates."
