Dad Ditches 'Cry It Out' Method And Climbs Into Crib With Daughter

Every parent knows that there's nothing worse than waking up to the sound of your child crying at night. There are conflicting emotions about wanting to check and make sure they're okay, while also feeling frustrated over losing sleep once again.

One dad got parents talking on this issue when he shared his unconventional response to his daughter's late-night wake-up call.

Online, it's easy to find parents debating the pros and cons of various sleep training methods. One popular technique known as "cry it out" encourages parents to let their baby cry for a short amount of time in the hopes of teaching them how to soothe themselves back to sleep.

One dad recently opened up about his experience with this method.

Muhammed Nitoto is a self-proclaimed "Dad-Vocate" who runs the popular social media account Chronicles Of Daddy.

He recently went viral for sharing some tips with dads on how to support their partners during breastfeeding.

The post racked up thousands of likes and shares on Facebook and Instagram and was covered by a number of media organizations.

Now he's gone viral again after sharing some footage from his baby monitor.

When Muhammed's youngest daughter started crying in her crib at night, he went to check on her.

"I tried to let her "cry it out" but didn't have it in me to commit. It's something about hearing my daughter crying that gets under my skin," he said in his post.

Instead, he climbed in her crib to calm her down until she went back to sleep.

"...even when I know nothing's wrong and she's just fussing it bothers me and I just want to pick her up and hold her close until she stops," he said.

Since sharing his post, Instagram users have praised Muhammed for going above and beyond for dad duty.

It's true that parenting is about sacrifice and in this case, Muhammed put his sleep and comfort aside to care for his daughter.

However, some Instagram users encouraged him to stick with the "cry it out" method.

Every parent knows what's best for their child, and cry it out won't work for everyone. What's great is that Muhammed shared his experiences with it, even if it's not a good fit for his daughter right now.
