9+ Things Costco Employees Wished Members Knew

Being a Costco member entitles you a slew of benefits like buying all the stuff in bulk at great prices. But just because you're a member doesn't mean you can abuse your unique privileges and behave badly.

Here are some helpful tips from Costco employees that will make you their ideal shopper.

1. Don't Be Gross

People, no matter where you shop be it Costco or elsewhere wash your hands after you've gone to the washroom. Please. That's just gross.

2. Don't Litter

Going to Costco for all those food samples is one of my favorite things about shopping there but I always put the sample cups in the trash.

3. Put Stuff Back Where It Belongs

I know sometimes people change their mind but leaving that unwanted pastry in the electronics aisle is just not that cool.

4. Don't Hog The Samples

LOL, this one I just laugh at because I'm so guilty of that. Come on, when it's so good you must go back for more.

5. Don't Take Things Out On Employees

If an item is out of stock don't be mad or rude to the employees who can't do anything about it. Just understand.

"What you're complaining about is likely above the pay grade of everyone in this building," a Costco worker said in an interview with Business Insider.

6. Costco Cards Can't Be Shared

There's a reason they check your membership card at the door. They need to verify if you're the actual person using it.

7. Don't Refuse To Show Your Membership Card

If you think you can run pass the door check, you'd be wrong. A manager will come and find you.

8. Control Your Own Kids

Costco employees work hard but they're not there to wrangle your screaming kids, too. Do them the favor and put a stop to it ASAP.

9. Don't Buy Stuff You Can't Fit In Your Car

If you're just grabbing a few things then decide to buy a sofa you gotta plan ahead. Really? This seems so obvious.

"Check the size of your car before coming — and the size of the product," said one employee.

10. Don't Assume Employees Will Haul Heavy Stuff

Yes, they can help you fit stuff in a Uhaul but you gotta do some of the work too, or bring help.

11. Write Reviews About Excellent Service

Did you know that you can actually write a positive review about an employee who did a great job? Yes, so do it.

12. Don't Return Stuff That You Have Used To Death

Some people have the nerve to bring back stuff that has been stained or basically ruined. That's just poor taste.

13. Lose Your Sense Of Entitlement

Just because you carry that Executive membership card doesn't make you any more important than other shoppers. So check your attitude at the door.

"Yes, you pay for a membership, but it doesn't mean you are entitled to anything or that you are always right," a Costco employee said in an interview with Business Insider.

Now that you've had the rundown of what drives Costco employees crazy, you must remember these for the next time you go there.

So be good!
