Sandra Bullock Said She Would Be 'Out In The Cow Pasture' Without Netflix Hiring Her

Sandra Bullock has no problem crediting her recent career success to the renowned streaming conglomerate, Netflix.

The 57-year-old acclaimed actress got real in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, about where she would be if not for the two booming Netflix productions she's starred in, Bird Box, and The Unforgivable, admitting that she would most likely be "out in the cow pasture."

Since the release of her first two Netflix films, "Bird Box" in late 2018 and "The Unforgivable" in 2021, both of which garnered a ton of popularity, Sandra Bullock's career has been having a bit of a renaissance.

Two home runs back-to-back have opened up a whole new chapter for the 57-year-old actress.

"Bird Box" held the number one position for most watched film in Netflix history up until it was bumped down to second place by Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot in "Red Notice" just a few weeks ago.

Sandra's subsequent film, The Unforgivable, also went down as one of the toplining films of 2021, however, and earned itself a position in the top 10 most-streamed Netflix films in history.

The mother-of-two recently admitted in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that she unequivocally owes her recent success to Netflix.

Sandra joked that without the help of the streaming service, she may be "out in the cow pasture" by now.

She pointed out that she isn't the only person to have massively benefited from Netflix.

Squid Game, for example.

“That’s one of the bigger ones, but I’ve seen more work from other countries told by other nationalities, and we never would have had that 10 years ago, ever," she said. "It brings people together in a way."

Sandra explained that in such a divided global climate, it's refreshing to have a streaming service that can give shine to stories from other countries.

"We’re getting more and more divided, and yet, we have the streamers that are able to blend our stories together and go, look, same story, just different," she went on.

As for the clout that comes with being in a successful Netflix production, Sandra says she doesn't pay it much mind.

Instead, she opts to focus more on giving credit where credit is due and that means praising Netflix for giving jobs to so many people, regardless of age or cultural background.

“They’re good to artists. They’re good to filmmakers," she said, adding that if not for Netflix, many would be out of a job.

"If it wasn’t for Netflix, a lot of people wouldn’t be working. Their stories wouldn’t be told," she continued.

She pointed out that as a 57-year-old woman in Hollywood, it is unlikely she would have had the same job opportunities without the help of the popular streaming service.

"Who would think that me, as a woman, would still be working at this point?" she asked.

Sandra joked that if Netflix didn't exist, her career may have taken a drastic turn in the opposite direction: Working with livestock and pasteurizing dairy.

"I would have been out in the cow pasture. It’s true," she quipped.

While we're sure Sandra Bullock would thrive in just about any profession, we're glad that acting has continued to pay off for her.

And for us, because Bird Box and The Unforgivable were absolutely iconic.
