Kendall Jenner Accused Of 'Upstaging' Bride In Dramatic Dress Worn To Friend's Wedding

There are few subject matters that evoke anger more than wedding guest attire. It's difficult to say why, as it seems like everyone and their mother should know the basic rules as far as clothing goes, but the universe just continues to surprise me.

Just a few weeks back, Candace Cameron Bure got called out for wearing red to a friend's nuptials and now, Kendall Jenner is getting accused of "upstaging" the bride at a friend's wedding.

When it comes to what to wear to a wedding, I think we all know the basic rules.

No white, no off-white, no cream and for goodness sakes, no eggshell. Other than that, you're pretty much good to go.

Some people may go so far as to say no bold colors, no glitter or sequins — nothing that could be seen as trying to take attention away from the bride.

However, I'm of the belief that the bride is always going to stand out because... well, she's the bride!

Still, I always try to stick to jewel tones and nothing that could be seen as flashy just in case the fashion police are there.

However, you know who's not concerned at all about the fashion police? Kendall Jenner.

To be fair, I'm sure this news doesn't come as a surprise to many of you.

The Kardashian/Jenner gang isn't afraid of breaking fashion, or cultural appropriation, rules all for the sake of their "aesthetic."

Who can forget a few years back when Kylie Jenner wore the most dramatic gold gown to Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin's wedding?

This dress is literally burned into my brain because of how much people were talking about.

This time, however, Kendall Jenner is getting called out for the *interesting* choice of dress she wore to a friend's wedding.

Does she look stunning? Of course. Is it high fashion? Absolutely. Is it something I'd wear personally to a friend's wedding? Absolutely not.

"For a wedding??? EXTREMELY BAD TASTE!" commented one Insta user.

"It’s not even about “looking better than the bride” it’s just so tacky and awkward to wear at a weeding," said one Twitter user.

"There’s a certain attire you wear to a wedding and this was not it," said another.

"wtf she doing wearing that at a wedding," commented one person on Instagram.

"Way to upstage the bride. Yikes!" chimed in another.

Some people went so far as to say they'd rather have Kendall show up in a wedding dress instead of this number.

"I’d rather have kendall jenner wear a wedding dress to my wedding than that black dress thank you and goodnight everybody," tweeted one fan.

Honestly, I'd love to have a chat with the bride to see if she actually cared about what Kendall wore, and hey — she might have even given her the seal of approval on the frock before the 26-year-old even wore it!

I think it's also safe to say this was a wedding filled with very gorgeous, very rich people who have teams dedicated to keeping them in shape.

So if you're a millionaire living in California, I'm sure Kendall Jenner's dress at your wedding is the least of your concerns — you're too busy being the 1% okay?!

It is worth noting that Kendall wore this dress to the wedding's reception, as she was a bridesmaid during the ceremony.

However, the reception is just as important and notable as the ceremony and many people stated it was not a good choice for any part of a wedding.

Needless to say, I haven't seen this much controversy about a dress since the infamous 2015 while dress/ blue dress debacle.

I think we can all agree that if the bride was okay with it, we have to be okay with it — I'm just thankful it didn't happen at my wedding!
