But what about the flipside? What was the tattoo artist thinking when working on unusual tats?
Well, one Reddit user sought to find this out when they asked the question, "Tattoo artists of Reddit, what is the most [expletive]-up thing you've tattooed?"

Yep, that's what someone asked to get tattooed on their backside! Oh, if we could be a fly on the wall when that person's future romantic partner takes off their pants to see that!
"Guy wanted the thumbs up emoji on his taint. Apparently he wanted everyone down there to 'know he appreciates a job well done.' I passed him off to a male colleague, who did not stop giggling the entire half an hour session." - u/CrazySnekGirl
One tattoo artist had an older woman come into his shop and ask for a tattoo of her grandson on her breast. While some will argue that he's "close to her heart," it's still a little weird.
"When I was getting tattooed, I asked my artist what his most [expletive]-up tat was. He told me a guy wanted Pinocchio on his crotch, with the penis as his nose. My artist did it and said the customer seemed happy with it." - u/Henlo_am_ANGERY
Oh, boy. This one's a doozy! This tattoo artist shared that he had a guy get a tattoo of his wife, erm, fingering her backside. Even weirder: she was there watching as her husband got this done.

One tattoo artist had a woman come in wanting "Sweet Pea" tattooed on her neck. Sounds normal enough, right? Well, for whatever reason, she insisted that it is spelled "Sweat Pee." He declined.
"This young man wanted a tattoo on his back. It said something like, 'Lisa please forgive me.' I told asked him if this was some last ditch effort to get this girl back. He said yes, and I told him this is a really bad idea you shouldn’t do this. He wanted the tattoo anyway, so he got it." - u/silverhandguild
One girl visited a tattoo shop wanting the words “property of Dave” above her private area. Since she was 18 and her boyfriend had just been sentenced to life in prison for murder, the artist refused. But his co-worker didn't...
"My friend had a guy come in wanting an ass tattoo. He had drawn up the artwork himself and wanted a sloth on his butt cheek done to look like it was coming out of his butt. The sloth was smiling giving the thumbs up." - u/taint_of_love

This tattoo artist had a girl come in wanting a biohazard symbol on the inside of her thigh.
He could only assume she either a) didn't know what this really meant or b) she liked the band. Either way, the placement cracked him up.

One person wanted a tattoo of a face on their face. How meta of them! We can only hope that the face was nice to look at since it's hard not to notice a face tattoo... or get a job.

This tattoo artist had a couple come in wanting the girl's name tattooed on the guy's neck.
But when he was talking to the girl alone, she told him, "My real boyfriend is getting out of jail in 2 weeks and when he's out, him through there is history!" Um, WTF?!
This tattoo artist had a guy keep coming in to get his girlfriend's name tattooed on him.
Eventually, he asked him what the deal was. He said that he would tattoo her name on himself every time he cheated on her and she found out. Ah, love.
