Parents Are Sharing Spooky Things Their Toddlers Said That Freaked Them Out

Young kids have a real knack for doing and saying creepy stuff. Maybe it's because they're more closely connected to the spirit realm, or maybe it's just because they're weird. Either way, they do have a habit of freaking out their parents from time to time.

In any event, Twitter users shared some of their favorite examples of creepy kid talk.

Here's how it kicked off.

Podcaster Dan Schreiber shared this creepy little story his toddler told him just before bedtime. As bedtime conversations with a toddler go, it's definitely on the creepy end of the spectrum. As we'll soon find out, it's hardly the only spooky thing a kid has ever said.

Glad he's in this life now.

I'm sure this mom was left pretty shaken when her young son all but confirmed he was a prisoner of war who got tortured in a previous life. At least he's in a timeline now where his toenails are staying in place.

...night babies?

Sometimes, a kid tells a semi-coherent story about a past life. Sometimes, they just come up with this unnerving word salad about night babies and checks notes taking the hearts from inside their bones. So they can't bite anymore, obviously.

Long story short.

I like how this toddler came out with a deeply disturbing story about a past life, then, when his mom was hanging on his every word, neatly summed things up. "Yeah, so that happened, long story short, you're my mommy now."

Is he from another dimension?

If my kid woke up and started talking in a different language, one that even Google didn't recognize, I'd be so weirded out. Like, did he learn that language in a different timeline from the current one or something?

No thanks.

I don't want to break it to this proud dad, but it sounds like his darling daughter Ruby either has total recall of a previous life, or is going to grow up to be a serial killer.

So cute.

At least in this case the speech defect kept things on the lighter side. I mean, I have no idea what this kid was talking about, but it's hard to be spooked by a toddler with a speech impediment.

He knows.

Here's an example of a kid either remembering something from the spirit realm, or saying something completely random (as kids are prone to do) and actually hitting one out of the park. In any case, good job freaking out the taxi driver.

Life was a lot harder back then.

I'm almost ready to believe that this is a certified example of reincarnation. I mean, what five-year-old knows what Notre Dame is, knows it used to be a convent, and knows what a scullery maid is?

Sometimes you're the creepy toddler.

I'm glad I don't have any memories like this, because this is extremely weird. It's cool, but it's also weird. I think experiencing something like this would make a person feel very disconnected from reality.

Thanks, kid.

At some point, it dawns on kids that everyone will die someday. This doesn't have to be a sad conversation, necessarily. On the other hand, it can definitely be a creepy conversation when it plays out like this.

Bad memories.

I don't know if I was a miner who died violently in a past life or not. If I was, in fact, a miner who died violently in a past life, I'm sure glad I don't remember it.

Nice to meet you, Dennis.

It's creepy enough when a kid says something weird before bedtime. If you combine it with a side order of light poltergeist activity, things get that much spookier. I guess Dennis just wanted to be noticed.

The nightman cometh.

Here's another one where the kid doesn't have a cohesive story, just an assurance that some kind of monster comes into their room at night. Well, good talk, kid. Hopefully the wobbly daddy stays home tonight.

That's nice to know.

Despite the weirdness of what this kid said, it must give this mom a bit of an ego boost to know that she was personally selected to be her child's mom. She must have been doing something right.

Sometimes they just know.

I like stories like these. I think kids intuitively pick up on stuff like this sometimes, and there's nothing supernatural involved. Whether it's something they've overheard or just inferred, they know more than they sometimes let on.

Is that how it works?

Sometimes kids know about a sibling who died in childbirth. Sometimes, I guess kids are the sibling who died in childbirth. Honestly, I don't really want to know. It all spooks me a little too much.

"When I was Andrei."

When kids say they were someone else in a previous life, it often seems like they were a noteworthy person. Like, this Andrei character apparently lived with or in close proximity to the Russian royal family.

My heart just broke a little bit.

Reading these stories, it's easy enough to get a little bit chilled or laugh them off. But many parents do lose their children far too young. It's kind of comforting to think that maybe they come back.

I'm going with this.

After reading all of these stories, I need someone to come out with a big dose of reality, and here it is: kids are weird. Kids say weird things. Sometimes, they say spooky things. Try not to read too much into it.
