Blind Diner Overcome After Chef Surprises Her With Braille Birthday Dessert

As society progresses, establishments across the world are moving towards a more accessible future. They're broadening their services to cater to people with different types of disabilities, wanting to include everyone possible.

A small act relating to this can be seen in a now-viral video taken of a woman on her birthday, and what restaurant staff did to make sure they could treat her appropriately.

Going out to a restaurant on your birthday can end in a variety of ways.

Some restaurants have big gimmicks that involve the staff singing for you, others silently slide you a free dessert.

For one woman who was taken out for a treat on her special day, the restaurant she attended went above and beyond.

Natalie Te Paa went to Luciano by Gino D'Acampo for a nice birthday meal.

Natalie is also completely blind.

When the wait staff brought her a special dessert, they first put down a plate that not only read 'Happy Birthday' on it, but also had it written out in braille using melted chocolate. The chef went the extra mile to fit both.

Natalie's friend, who filmed the whole thing, took her hand and placed it on the braille letters.

She gasps right away, immediately recognizing the braille.

She runs her hands over it for a few moments in awe. "No freaking way," is the first thing she says, in total shock that they did this for her.

She soon breaks out in a smile.

"They did not!" She exclaims as the camera pans to the wait staff.

Her friend filming calls the staff 'amazing' as Natalie can be heard laughing in the background.

"Oh my gosh," Natalie says, a joyous look on her fact, "Are you kidding me?"

She's very clearly touched by the action, the extra step to make her day extra special.

The on-screen text reads, "So take heart, despite how broken the world is right now...true kindness still exists."

The end of the video is marked by Natalie thanking the staff as they swap her plate and give her her dessert.

The comments were filled with people feeling emotional over the video.

"I didn't plan on crying today...but here we are!" Wrote one emotional commenter.

"As a chef, this makes me so damn proud of what we do," said another. "It's just food but it can be so much more."

The video, and Natalie's joy, has gone viral.

Posted on her own TikTok account, @natbysight, her video has been viewed almost 15 million times, has gained over 4 million likes, and has over 35,000 comments all marvelling at this beautiful act.

In the caption, she wrote, "I'll never forget this moment."
