Brendan Fraser has been the talk of the town for a bit now, and it was only a matter of time before his most famed role was brought up and there was a demand to see him return to it.
Fans of the 1999 film The Mummy and the subsequent sequels have taken to petitioning for a fourth film featuring the original star. There's no denying the power of Fraser fans.
People are demanding a chance for him to return to one of his most iconic roles, Rick O'Connell in The Mummy.
This is following the viral video call he had with a fan, in which he tears up after hearing how many supporters he has and how excited they are for him to return to the big screen.
He's been cast in Martin Scorsese's Killers Of The Flower Moon, a movie based on a novel of the same name by author David Grann. He will be playing a lawyer by the name of W.S. Hamilton.
Excitement for this film is high, but the people are hoping more will come out of it.
Well, a fourth Mummy movie featuring Fraser.
There was the attempted Dark Universe reboot of The Mummy back in 2017, this one starring Tom Cruise, but it was far from a hit among fans of the original series.
As explained in a Hollywood Reporter article from 2019, "Universal opted not to go forward with a fourth film that would have seen the O’Connells face off against Aztec mummies in South America with Antonio Banderas playing the villain [...]."
The petition reads, "The Mummy 4, rumored to be named The Mummy: Rise of the Aztecs, would have brought the series to South America. With the failure of Universal's Mummy reboot, now would be the time to make The Mummy 4. Have Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz return. [...] Bringing Antonio Banderas in as the main villain would definitely be a nice touch also."
"This would be the perfect chance to correct the mistake that was the horrible Tom Cruise [The] Mummy abomination, resurrect the careers of older movie stars, it also gives the chance to make new ones. Also having The Rock returning as The Scorpion King would be the icing on the cake."
It's now nearing 5000 signatures and only seems to be climbing as more and more people realize they also want a fourth Mummy movie and are looking to make it a reality.
Hopefully Fraser's performance in Killers Of The Flower Moon will be enough to keep this discussion going. We can have The Mummy 4 yet!
