Though everyone has their favorite genre of these hacks, a popular one is cleaning. Whether it be secret product combinations that leave your home spotless or methods of cleaning that'll speed up the process, it's nice having that knowledge under your belt.

But what about when something is revealed to you that you didn't even know could be cleaned?

That's what many experienced after watching a now viral TikTok.

Posted by Natasha Witts, or @natashawitts, the video has over 600k views from people watching in awe as she shows a spot in your kitchen you might never have thought to clean.

She unscrews the plug and shows the built up gunk and grime underneath it. The on-screen text urges viewers to, "Check your plug holes!"

She then goes at it, cleaning it thoroughly.

She scrubs away at the plug and the cover with a toothbrush and some cleaning solution, loosening all the dirt before spraying it down with some hot water.

She then shakes some baking soda onto the drain, pours on some vinegar, and watches it dissolve. Once that first pass is gone, she then pours a little Zoflora followed by boiling water.

After that, she screws the plug cap back on and marvels at her spotless sink.

People in the comments were initially in awe at the tutorial.

"Omg [I] never knew they unscrewed," wrote one user, voicing the thoughts of many.

"Watching this at 10:30 in bed... Now I have to get up and clean my sinks [...]," said another.

However, as the video grew in popularity, the comments began to fill with warnings.

"Don't pour water down after you've unscrewed it guys, you will have a leak. Also you could end up with a leak if it's not sealed up properly after."

"[Nah], I did this and all the pipes under the sink fell and broke."

One commenter had already learned this lesson in a big way, saying "I did this with my bath and then I flooded my downstairs neighbors living room after a bath [because apparently] it unscrews under the inside of the bath too."

Other viewers were grateful for the abundance of warnings.

"I'm glad I read the comments about the water under the sink before I had to explain to the housemates how I flooded the kitchen," read one thankful user.

Others were urging the uploader to reveal the aftermath and show how much water ended up under her sink, but she insisted that it didn't leak at all.

Though it may truly work for her, it's still best to double check things before you follow a hack online.

Especially one that involves dismantling plumbing in your home. We all want our kitchens to be as clean as possible, but it's just not worth a potential call to the plumber and whatever cost that may bring just to know an unseen part of your sink is spotless.
