'Nap Dresses' Are The One Fashion Trend We Can Finally Get On Board With

Before you scoff and say, "A nap dress? You mean a nightgown?" hear me out on this one.

Nap dresses are taking social media by storm, and for good reason: they're soft, comfy, and the perfect thing to take a quick... three-hour or so nap in.

Are they just nightgowns for a new generation, or are they a whole new thing? Let's find out.

A quick tip from me, the queen of naps:

I have chronic fatigue, which means I have to nap a LOT. This means I'm extremely good at it. The most important tip I can give you? Don't nap in clothes you wear to do busy stuff. Differentiate your outfits to get your brain into the nap zone.

Anyway, to the nap dress.

The phrase "nap dress" was trademarked by luxury bedding brand Hill House Home just prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

So, as you can imagine, the nap dress took off in a big way in 2020.

The nap dress doesn't look like a nightgown.

In fact, most nap dresses look like normal summer dresses!

Hill House Home designed them to be comfy, light dresses that you can wear out and about. No one will know you're wearing a dress you can nap in.

It's available in a ton of different styles.

From long skirts to short, the nap dress comes in a ton of different styles for you to roll out of bed and into the car in.

2020 and 2021 really became the years of the nap dress.

And for good reason. With everyone locked indoors, working from home, and generally not allowed to do anything, it makes sense that we would skip out on glam in favor of being comfy.

They offer plus sizes, too!

Hill House Home offers sizes from XXS-2X. I definitely think there's room for improvement there — it would be nice to see at least a 3X in their line.

Not everyone is fan, however.

See, the nap dress isn't a nightgown, and that CRUCIAL distinction is a source of hilarity for a lot of people. We've had a weird few years, you guys.

It's pretty easy to make fun of this trend.

For a mere $75, you too can wear a dress that takes you from day to night! I'd usually use leggings for that, but that's just me.

So, how do you feel about it?

I'm all for feeling comfortable at all times, so I'm for it. However, I can totally see how people think the whole nap dress versus a nightgown is goofy as hell.
