Mom Gets Slammed For Making A Keto Lunch For Her 11-Year-Old

Do you remember the lunches your parents used to make for you when you were in school? Mine usually consisted of a cheese string, a ham sandwich, and a juice box.

They were certainly never like the meals that TikTok user @houseofketo prepares for her daughter. But even as delicious and nutritious as they are, people have begun shaming her simply because it happens to be Keto.

First off: what exactly is a Keto diet, anyway?

The Keto diet is all about training your body to burn different fuel reserves, according to Harvard Health Publishing.

"Instead of relying on sugar (glucose) that comes from carbohydrates (such as grains, legumes, vegetables, and fruits), the keto diet relies on ketone bodies, a type of fuel that the liver produces from stored fat."

In a recent video shared by TikTok user @houseofketo, she explains that her daughter is Keto and begins describing her lunch.

A lettuce wrap with shredded chicken, blueberries, strawberries, some sliced watermelon, one hardboiled egg, and two slices of thick cheddar cheese. I don't know about you, but to me — that sounds like one healthy (and big) lunch.

But many of @houseofketo's followers seem to disagree.

"Why is an 11 year old[sic] keto?" one person asked. Others were curious why the mother felt the need to put her daughter on such a seemingly extreme diet in the first place.

However, there were also those that came to @houseofketo 's rescue.

TikTok user Dkennedy2020 commented "Chicken, lettuce, fruit and cheese. The ones getting pressed probably feed their children McDonald's." It should also be noted that the Keto diet has been known to reduce seizures in epileptic children.

Don't judge before you have all the facts.
