Woman Sparks Discussion After Family Hates On Her For Destination Wedding

A wedding is a special day in anyone's life. Some people dream up their perfect wedding for years and years, hoping that they will have exactly what they want to say "I do."

Any bride or groom will tell you, however, that planning a wedding is not easy. Especially when you have your family wanting to get involved in the process.

While some people get married close to home, others dream of getting married somewhere tropical and beachy. Many brides and grooms opt for destination weddings, where they get married in another country.

Many times, these kinds of weddings can be expensive for guests, however.

One TikTok user decided to share her own experience with planning her destination wedding.

TikTok user @heretherewebstudio made a TikTok video on her account turning "family and friend responses about her destination wedding" into "inspirational quotes" online.

While it's a hilarious concept, the quotes posted were serious concerns from her family and friends.

Some of the quotes are things any bride/groom planning a destination wedding has heard.

Many friends and family say that "no one is going to go" to a destination wedding, as some of them are very expensive.

While many of them are at all-inclusive resorts, the airfare, and the hotels can become very expensive.

Others expect the couple to pay for them.

Family members especially expect the couple to pay for them to attend their wedding, as it can be extremely expensive.

And, they also don't want to give a wedding gift on top of paying their way to get to their wedding, too.

Destination weddings also makes it harder for everyone to be there on that day.

Older relatives or bigger families cannot always make it because of either traveling problems or just overall cost, so it means certain people won't be there to celebrate, either.

While many of these things are true, most couples feel it is "their choice" for "their day."

The TikTok video sparked a conversation about destination weddings online.

One person said "yes, people can say no," but when your best friend or family member cannot go because they can't afford it or can't get off of work to travel there, it's definitely putting them in a "bad position."

Others said couples have to decide "what is more important."

Another person said that when you have a destination wedding, you have to choose between the "destination" and "the people."

Some would rather have everyone at their wedding, over having the wedding on a tropical island. Others choose the opposite.

People also said it's fine, as long as couples don't "make people feel guilty."

One commenter said that as long as the couple does not "guilt" people for not being able to come and RSVPing no, then there are no hard feelings and everything is okay.

Some couples do make their friends and family feel guilty for saying they cannot come.

And, one person had some excellent advice.

One TikTok user said they are having a destination wedding and gave some good advice. She said that she told her friends and families 1 year out and provided them with pricing, so they can save money for the entire year to go.
