Toss A Coin To Netflix: 'The Witcher' Season 2 Premieres On December 17

While this may not be be high on the list of problems we've had during the pandemic, it's hard to deny that it made a lot of folks play the waiting game for the releases they've been hotly anticipating.

And I think it's fair to say that the past year gave us plenty of reasons to get tired of the waiting game. But if our patience must be tested, it helps a lot to get some idea of how long we'll actually have to wait.

Well, fans of The Witcher can now rejoice because they finally have the answers they seek.

Since June, fans have had little more than a teaser to work with when trying to determine what to expect for Season 2.

And while it was as vague as you might expect from a teaser, they knew it was coming and they knew that it would put a lot of focus on Ciri, monster hunter Geralt of Rivia's destiny-bound traveling companion.

But after fans tuned in to WitcherCon — the first ever fan convention dedicated to the show — they finally received word that the show would return to Netflix on December 17.

Although Variety reported that more details about the new season will come in as this virtual convention progresses, we do know that it will see Geralt and Ciri holed up at his childhood home.

There, he will try to protect the princess fated to be a Witcher herself from being overwhelmed by her powers.

Welcome as it's sure to be, this announcement came after a long period of uncertainty for fans.

Although The Witcher was renewed for its second season in late 2019, the COVID-19 pandemic stalled filming until it finally wrapped in April.

But even then, only scraps of information such as Geralt's new look periodically came out through releases such as this Instagram post star Henry Cavill made back in October.

So while it seems that the total wait since the news of its renewal will clock in at about two years, it'll only be a few more months before that wait is over.

And as long as the show can keep up the momentum it gained from its wildly successful first seasno, what we're about to see will likely be just a taste of things to come.

Who knows what kind of intrigue Geralt will face and what monsters he'll have to tango with once fans get their early Christmas gift?
