Moms have so many words of wisdom to share, that sometimes, we overlook the most meaningful ones. Growing up, my mom always shared with me, "they're not you" whenever I was upset or unhappy about the way someone else treated me.
Basically, reminding me that my heart is not the same as theirs and they may not do what I would do.
Now, Reddit users are also sharing their "mom catchphrases" that important and special.
One person shared that their mom had some words of wisdom in terms of energy and people in your life.
"My mom’s always been an avid gardener and whenever I felt down growing up she’d always say “Water the flowers, not the weeds."
Many of us don't want to listen to our moms in the moment, but as we get older, we realize they were right all along.
One Reddit user shared that their mom said, "Listen to me now and believe me later." Truth!
“People do what makes sense to them.”
That reigns true so much. Sometimes, we may not understand why other people operate the way that they do, but sometimes, in the long run, they do what works best for them—even if it doesn't work for us.

Sometimes, we feel responsible for a lot of things that aren't our problem. One mom has totally got it covered in terms of what she is and is not responsible for.
"My mom always says, 'Not my circus, not my monkeys' when something isn’t her problem."
Sometimes, we complain more than we realize. And, no one notices more than our own mothers. So, one mom shared some wise words.
"When I would complain about not getting something I wanted, my mom would say, 'Well people in hell want ice water.'"
Raise your hand if you've ever made your mom angry, or if your own kids make you angry from time to time.
"Whenever I made my mom mad, she'd refer to me as 'Your daughter' to my father," said one user. Amazing.

Some moms want what is best for their children in terms of their education.
"My mom would always say 'Open your brains' when she dropped us off at school. We still use it to this day," one person shared.
We've rolled our eyes from time to time at our moms.
"Don’t look at me in that tone of voice!' she'd say whenever we'd roll our eyes or make any facial expression she didn’t approve of," one person shared.
We're totally stealing.
"Whenever we'd refer to my mother as 'she' in front of her, she would immediately interrupt with: 'Who’s 'she?' the cats mother?!' Apparently, it was something my grandmother used to say to my mom, and now it’s definitely something I’ll pass on,'" said one mom.

Some moms know that less is more.
"My mum's catchphrase is, 'Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.' It's the reason we always have three times the amount of stuff we actually need," one person shared.
