But one hairstylist is getting all kinds of hate on TikTok for what they’re charging for a straightforward cut and color: nearly two grand.
Hairstylist Jasmine Policarpo featured the job on TikTok.
In a video posted by user @byprado_, Policarpo shows off what she did for one of her clients. This is the ‘before’ picture.
Let’s do the math here.
Policarpo charged the client $150 per hour for a process that takes 13 hours. Add it up and it comes out to a cool $1,950.
It really seems like a lot to pay to get your hair bleached and colored.
The end result looks good.
It looks good, sure, but is it $1,950 good? A lot of commenters would disagree.
In her defense, Policarpo told Newsweek that she charges a fair price for the service she provides.

In response to a direct question in the comments section, Policarpo talked a bit about how special her services are, which isn’t actually an answer to the question that was being asked.
The video has around 180,000 likes.
This is in addition to millions of views, ensuring that Policarpo will make good money not just off of her hairstyling services, but also from her TikTok infamy.
It’s hard to imagine spending that much.
Of course, it makes sense to leave some things to the professionals and pay them for their services. But how can haircare possibly cost this much?

It’s a fair point that people are free to charge what they want, and if they get it, then more power to them.
How often does someone get this service?
If it’s someone who never wants their roots to show, they’re looking at spending a house down payment every year just on haircare.
It’s a pricey, pricey service.
Some hairstyling services are worth shelling out for, but it’s hard to imagine anyone paying two grand for a simple job like this.
