Anonymous Diner Leaves $16,000 Tip At New Hampshire Restaurant: 'It's Unbelievable'

If you've ever worked in the service industry, you know how important tips are. It's so much more than just a couple of dollars — it's truly someone's livelihood.

While it's ideal to give a 20% tip, one anonymous diner recently went above and beyond at a bar and grill in New Hampshire and left the staffers there completely overwhelmed.

As per Fox News, the anonymous customer showed up at the Stumble Inn Bar and Grill in Londonderry earlier this month, according to the bar’s owner Michael Zarella.

"It’s unbelievable. I just never in my life thought somebody would come in here and do that," Michael told the news outlet.

"I didn’t even think it was going to be true until it cleared the bank, which was last Friday. I was like, ‘No Way.’ I told my staff don’t get too excited because this doesn't happen."

The Stumble Inn Bar and Grill was closed for two months amidst the pandemic but was still able to satisfy their customers with takeout orders.

"We opened early. We were lucky," Michael explained. "For the two months that we had to stuggle, we recoupled that by the end of the year, last year."

All the anonymous diner had asked for were two hotdogs with chili and cheese, pickle chips and three drinks, which came to a whopping to $37.93.

The bar's owner shared the exciting news of the $16,000 tip in a Facebook post.

"Stumble inn had a very generous customer.we thank you for your generosity," he wrote alongside a picture of the receipt.

Eight bartenders were on duty that day and served several customers both inside and outdoors.

Since there were no instructions provided by the tipper, the cash was split between the 30 members of the kitchen and bar staff.

"Everybody thought it might be a celebrity that was here, but it wasn’t. It was just an ‘average Joe,’" Michael explained.

"He gave the money and doesn’t want any PR out of it… He doesn’t want anything. I even tried to comp his meal last Saturday night and he said, ‘No.’"

What an amazing gesture!
