For decades, Disneyland/Disney World has been considered to be the most magical place on earth. The iconic theme park(s) offer a chance to escape your everyday life, and to immerse yourself in all the trappings and wonder of childhood splendor.
However, there are those who feel that Disneyland/Disney World isn’t for everyone. One such person, a disgruntled mother and patron, recently went viral for ranting against childless adults attending Disney.
Disney is one of the most magical and the happiest places in the world.
People of all ages go to explore, have fun, and make amazing memories with their families and their friends.
That being said, apparently, not everyone thinks that people of all ages should have that very privilege.
Twitter user @JenKatWrites dug up an old Facebook rant made by a very unhappy mother/Disney World patron.
In an incredibly angry, profanity-fueled rant, the mother proclaims that Disney World is a family vacation destination.
Therefore, anyone without kids shouldn’t be allowed to enter the park. “DW is a FAMILY amusement park!!!!!,” she exclaims. “Yet these IMMATURE millenials THROW AWAY THEIR MONEY ON USELESS CRAP!!!!!”
The mother then went on a rant about how these ‘millenials’ would never ever understand the joys of parenting.
She lamented on the frustration of having to chase a toddler around a busy theme park, and the dismay of being made to stand in long lines.
The mother then told an incredibly NSFW story about how she saw a young girl waiting in line for a pretzel:
“This [expletive] in some very SLUTTY shorts was buying a Mickey pretzel and Aiden wanted one but the line was very long so I said later and it broke his little heart and he cried.”
“DW is for CHILDREN!!!!” the mother screamed. “People without CHILDREN need to be BANNED!!!!”
Not only should people without children not be allowed entrance into the theme park, but mothers with children shouldn’t have to wait in line, she argued.
Whether they’re looking to buy a box of popcorn or ride Splash mountain — mothers with children should have first priority at all times.
She finally concluded her rage-riddled post by saying “I [expletive] hate childless women with a BURNING PASSION!!!”
The mother’s sentiments were also echoed in an op-ed published in *The New York Post*.
The incredibly scathing and borderline insulting article asserts that people who visit Disney World absent the company of kids are just downright “weird.”
Op-ed author Johnny Oleksinski said everything he felt on the matter:
“Millennials are indeed in an unhealthy relationship with Disney, having granted control of so much of their leisure time and personality to a single, enormous corporate entity meant for children.”
These assertions caused quite the commotion.
In no time at all, people began making their opinions on the matter heard.
Many people were quick to point out that Disneyland and Disney World theme parks were never invented with just children in mind.
Rather, they were intended to be a destination that people of all ages would be able to enjoy.
They said that the mother would do well to keep this in mind and that maybe she should relax on shaming total strangers for doing nothing more than enjoying an amusement park.
Others were quick to throw Walt Disney’s own words back in her face.
In the original manifesto for Disneyland, Walt wrote, “To all who come to this happy place: Welcome. Disneyland is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past – and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future.”
Another one of Walt’s most famous quotes reads:
“You’re dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids grown up, anyway.”
That’s certainly how I feel — just like a grownup kid.
What makes Disneyland/Disney World the most magical place on earth is that everyone is always welcome.
Believe me, those of us without kids aren’t exactly thrilled to be standing in line next to you and little Johnny, either — but we make it work.
Furthermore, you don’t see childless adults trying to ban kids from adult spaces like restaurants, sporting events, and airplanes.
Are long lines annoying? Of course, they are. Is anyone denying how hard parents have it? Certainly, not.
But those without children shouldn’t be punished or made to suffer for the decisions of those that do. It’s as simple as that.
