Gender reveals are something that didn't really exist ten years ago, but they're all the rage now.
We've seen them cause deadly wildfires. We've seen them get controversial. We've even seen them register on seismic sensors. But I think a recent gender reveal might take the whole cake.
Why?
Well, in this case, the biggest baby is actually the dad-to-be.
In the TikTok video, you can see family and friends gathered in the backyard as the expectant parents prepare to pop a balloon.
We all know the drill: the balloon will be full of blue stuff for a boy, or pink for a girl. Neither parent knows which it'll be.
The balloon pops, showering everybody with pink streamers. It's a girl!
Everyone is smiling and laughing. But the dad-to-be immediately puts on a sour look, mouths a few expletives, and angrily throws some of the balloon debris to the ground.
This freeze-frame kind of says it all: everyone's excited by the prospect of the incoming bundle of joy being a girl, and this guy's getting all pouty about it.
The video was extremely short, so we see little more than the guy's mini tantrum before it ends.
I would love to be a fly on the wall in this situation. Like, everybody was having a good time and the guy just made things hella awkward.
Practically all of the comments made fun of the guy either for wearing capris (honestly, that's his choice) or for his childish tantrum (which is a very fair criticism).
I hadn't considered this point, but it's a good one: it was basically a 50/50 toss-up on whether that balloon would contain pink streamers or blue streamers.
If dad is that angered by pink streamers, maybe, like, don't do a gender reveal?
It's best to take the high road and not dunk on someone for their wardrobe choices.
That said, there's nothing wrong with munching on some popcorn while reading comments like these.
A few comments pointed out that parents might be disappointed that they don't get the boy or girl they wanted.
But there's a difference between being a bit disappointed and being a big old baby in public.
Because this video is so short, I've now watched it (conservatively) a hundred times. It's absolutely hypnotic.
