Cop Has Best Response After Person Mistakenly Texts Him About Getting High

I'm sure at some point or another we've all accidentally texted the wrong number — whether because we were off by a few digits or because someone wrote their number down wrong (accidentally or on purpose, you decide).

Usually it's not a big deal. The person on the other end sets you straight, you offer your apologies, and that's the end of that. If you're the victim of a fake number, you may suffer some significant injuries to both your pride and your ego, but that's nothing a tub of ice cream can't fix.

However, there are a few rare times when a wrong number text can yield some spectacular entertainment for the other person, especially if it's as hilarious as this particular exchange.

One person sent a text message to a number they believed to belong to their friend, despite the person on the other end saying they had the wrong digits.

According to People, the unidentified texter was adamant that they did, in fact, have the right number, and set out to convince the person on the other end that they know each other, even going so far as to "remind" them of that time they got high together.

This wouldn't be that bad, except the person they were sharing all of this information with was a Missouri cop.

The officer first recieved a text inviting him to go to a game with the promise of some free hot dogs and soda.

Despite such an appealing offer, the cop politely declined and also added that the person had unfortunately text the wrong number.

However, the texter wasn't so easily convinced of this and insisted, "No I don't we went to the game together."

Perhaps wondering if he was in the wrong here, the cop asked the texter to clarify what game they attended together.

In an effort to jog their friend's memory, the person on the other side of the conversation casually reminded the cop of that time "we got high together girl."

Confident this would be enough, they added, "Get dressed & I will pick you up."

It's at this point that the officer delivers the best response possible to his confused conversational partner.

I wish we could have seen the moment this person realized just how big of a mistake they made. I'm sure it was a heart-stopping, eyes-widening, phone-dropping realization that they really had the wrong number.

Understandably, the conversation didn't last very long after the cop's big reveal picture was sent.

The Windfield MO Police Department shared the hilarious screenshots to their Facebook page in a post captioned, "We were invited to go to a baseball game tonight! Unfortunately we don't think they are gonna come pick us up."

The post has since racked up nearly 12,000 shares, with some people commenting invitations to take the blown-off cop to the game themselves.

"Can someone send me the cop's number I'll take him to the game," one user wrote. "I'll buy him actual dinner too. Not just a hot dog & a soda."
