Actress Selma Blair has never been shy to share the ups and downs of her battle with multiple sclerosis.
But now, in a heartbreaking new post, the star just revealed that she’s currently separated from her son due to health reasons.

Since being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, Selma Blair has shared the ups and downs of the disease.
If you didn’t know, multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system.
In an interview with “Good Morning America”, the actress said it took a while for doctors to take her health concerns seriously.
While she’s had health issues ever since her son was born in 2011, the “Legally Blonde” actress only just recently got officially diagnosed.
“Ever since my son was born, I was in an MS flare-up and didn’t know, and I was giving it everything to seem normal,” she told Robin Roberts of “GMA”.
“And I was self-medicating when he wasn’t with me. I was drinking.”
“I was in pain. I wasn’t always drinking, but there were times when I couldn’t take it.”
She recalled the time she had to pull over for a nap after driving her son, Arthur, to school.
“I was really struggling with, ‘How am I gonna get by in life?”
“And not taken seriously by doctors, just, ‘Single mother, you’re exhausted, financial burden, blah, blah, blah.’”
During the interview, the actress was actually going through an MS flare-up that was affecting her speech.
“I was a little scared of talking,” she said.
Despite the fact that she has “aggressive MS,” her doctor is hopeful that she will have the disease under control.
“He said within a year, I will have 90 percent of my abilities back.”
While the prognosis is hopeful, there have been some really rough moments for the star.
Namely, how it’s affected her ability to be there for her son.
In a recent Instagram post, she shared a sweet photo of her son, along with some heartbreaking news.
Right now, they are currently separated for health reasons.
“I am here. I am not with my son. I am in the place of getting better,” she began.
“Needing to believe in this knowing we will never know. Strange. I count on the spirits of this world more than I ever thought.”
She went on to really stress the importance of family during this difficult time.
“I need this boy to see me do things I never thought I could. And I will do my best. It really is gratitude.”
Many celebs rushed in to send lots of love to the struggling star.
Brooke Shields wrote: “My prayers and love are sent to you from the depths of my heart.”
She shared another sweet photo of the two a few days later.
This time, it was a #throwback picture of them taking a bubble bath.
“My dream is to jump in the ocean again with this one. #healing. #thankyou,” she captioned.
While some criticized the star for taking a “#bikinibath” with her son, most of the comments were positive.
