'Boy Meets World' Star Danielle Fishel Opens Up About Her 'Nightmare' Premature Delivery

Every expecting parent hopes for a healthy labor and delivery. When this doesn't happen, it can be extremely difficult for the parents as they prepare for the unknown and rely on the help of NICU doctors.

Boy Meets World star Danielle Fishel knows how hard this can be firsthand. She just updated fans with an emotional Instagram post about her baby boy who was born one month premature.

You probably know Danielle Fishel best from her long-running role on Disney's "Boy Meets World".

Danielle played Topanga, Cory's smart and sassy long-term girlfriend.

Danielle also returned for the show's Netflix reboot Girl Meets World in 2014 which saw her character married to Cory with a family of their own.

Outside of her television roles, Danielle has been pretty busy.

In January, Danielle and her husband, Jensen Karp, announced they were expecting a baby boy. Fans were over-the-moon about the news.

Like a lot of other celebs, Danielle kept us up-to-date with Instagram posts about her pregnancy.

She shared photos about her growing bump and pregnancy cravings with her usual trademark humor.

She took to Instagram again to share an unexpected update with fans on July 1.

The photo featured a picture of her baby's nursery with the name "Adler" prominently displayed.

At first, it looked like Danielle was announcing her baby's name, but as it turned out, she had given birth to her son a month before his expected due date.

Along with the nursery photo, there was a picture of baby Adler.

"One week ago today, on 6/24 at 4:52am, Adler Lawrence Karp made his entrance into the world, 4 weeks early," Danielle wrote in the Instagram caption.

She explained that her water broke on June 20 and soon after, her OB discovered fluid in Adler's lungs during an ultrasound.

She called the whole situation a "nightmare" and said Adler is still in the NICU.

Doctors are trying to determine the best way to remove the fluid from his lungs.

Of course, this announcement has been very difficult for Danielle and her husband.

"We feel helpess and powerless and useless and we wanted so badly to follow our 'birth plan,' unsurprisingly none of which involved leaving our beautiful baby boy at the hospital for the first weeks of his life," she said on Instagram.

Even though this has been a trying time, Danielle said she and Jensen are supporting each other.

"Jensen and I have also become closer than we ever thought possible and the love between us has grown exponentially as we have leaned on each other during both our highest highs and our lowest lows," she said.

Online, Danielle's "Boy Meets World" costars have offered their support to Danielle and Jensen.

Will Friedle, who played Eric on the show, offered to get the couple some food so they wouldn't have to worry about meal prep in-between NICU visits. The Boy Meets World cast is truly like a family.

Fans who also had babies in the NICU also offered their support on Danielle's Instagram post.

This Instagram user shared her own story of being a NICU mom and wished Danielle and Jensen's baby a quick recovery.

Even though it was hard for Danielle to share this news, it's clear that her fans are supporting her during this hard time.
