We love a major corporation that helps give back! And that is exactly what the Swedish furniture giant IKEA is doing.
They’re helping to make our furry friends in animal shelters feel a little more comfortable and happy by collecting used and unwanted textiles from the public and donating them to their local animal shelter to create new bedding for the pups.

An IKEA store in Tempe, Australia is teaming up with RSPCA NSW to help create some comfortable living quarters for animals at their local animal shelters.
They’ve helped create the “Take-back” program, which helps recycle old or unused textiles in the home and gives them new life for a good cause.
In the past, this same store bought back old or unwanted furniture in an effort to be more sustainable.
They also offered workshops to learn how to DIY old furniture. Sign me up!
Now, they’re accepting old textiles to be used for new bedding for shelter animals from July 6 to July 14.
These include bedding, towels, sheets, quilts, and blankets. Of course, these pieces should be washed and clean and decent quality.
They also won’t be accepting bean bags, pillows, or pillowcases.
Although this program is exclusive to the Tempe, Australia location at the moment, we can only hope that more stores around the world hop on the bandwagon.
With textile waste a major environmental issue, this is a great way to repurpose old textiles and help those in need, including our furry friends.
