I don’t know how often I’ve been sitting in front of a TV show and thought, “hey, I know that actor, but where do I know them from?” And then I go to look them up, and it turns out I’ve never seen anything they’re in. Weird, right?
Well, recognizable faces aren’t always what they seem. And it turns out that famous faces occasionally have doubles. Just check out these faces from Game of Thrones . Some of the resemblances are absolutely uncanny.
The High Sparrow and Pope Francis
The High Sparrow, of course, is played by the singular Jonathan Pryce, a former Bond villain and fixture in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. His resemblance to Pope Francis is downright spooky.
Margaery Tyrell and Diana Rigg
This one is crazy — check out the resemblance between Margaery, played by Natalie Dormer, and young Diana as Emma Peel in The Avengers .
Of course, Diana went on to star as Margaery’s grandmother, Olenna Tyrell, the Queen of Thorns. Kudos to that casting director.
Sansa Stark and Boy George
Boy George isn’t just a karma chameleon, apparently. Maybe it’s the makeup, maybe it’s the hair, but Sophie Turner’s Sansa and young Boy George sure are striking next to each other.
The White Walker and Gregg Allman
Apologies to the late great Southern rocker here, but there is something to be said for the likeness. Who knows, maybe the design crew had “Midnight Rider” playing when they were coming up with ideas.
Joffrey Baratheon and Caligula
The character of Joffrey was definitely cut from the same cloth as the demented Roman emperor. Big time credit to young Jack Gleeson for doing such a great job playing one the most despised characters in TV history.
Robb Stark and Gus Kenworthy
Richard Madden, who played the Young Wolf, has a real life doppelganger in Olympic and World Champion skier Gus Kenworthy.
Fans definitely noticed the resemblance, too, when Gus’s face became a little more prominent during the 2018 Winter Olympics.
Arya Stark and ???
I don’t even know where the guy on the right came from, but credit to Reddit user CaptainBeckmann for finding and meme-ifying this guy, because the guy definitely has Arya’s face.
Jaime Lannister and Prince Charming
Usually animated characters just have exaggerated human features, but somehow Jamie Lannister, played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, lives up to the animated handsomeness of Shrek 2 ‘s Prince Charming.
