New year, new you.
One of the number one resolutions made at New Year’s is to get healthy and lose weight, but how many people stick to it?
For those on the Subreddit r/progresspics, their resolutions are a reality. Whether you’re on your weight loss journey, looking for information on how to start, or searching for some inspiration, these transformations will blow your mind.
Consistency is the Key
User mattboyslim79 achieved two goals: getting it off, and keeping it off!
He started at 313lbs and got down to 183lbs, where he stayed for all of 2018. Congrats, Matt!
Slow and Steady
It took user TortoiseAFN 4 years to hit her goal, but she did it with constant patience and dedication. She dropped from 225lbs to 145lbs and isn’t quite finished yet. Go girl.
Gaining Confidence
It’s amazing how far you can get in a year. User FatToNotAsFat appreciates the difference in her body, but it’s the change in her confidence that really means the most to her.
Boldly Going
User barnyardbetty took on her weight in 2018 and now has the confidence to wear a sleeveless dress! From 320lbs to 180lbs, she slayed her goals by starting a low-carb, keto diet. Set phasers to stunning.
Halfway There
In 2018, feverfeverray decided to take on her weight and start her fitness journey. She’s 97 pounds down, but she’s planning to lose at least 40 more before she’s done!
Polar Bear Plunge
This is so heartwarming.
User SteveP999’s before and after involves making the front page of his local newspaper twice–at two very different weights! 92 pounds down may have made for a smaller splash, but he still won for the biggest one both years.
Taking Control
Keto and lifting helped take user 160Goal from 220lbs to 155lbs in a little over 8 months. She rang in 2019 65 pounds down and is in control of her body now.
Self Motivation
Not only did user DesGetsDefinition change her weight, but her whole look, too!
In 2018, she dropped 88lbs, and gained back her eyebrows (hey, she said it, first), so she’s winning on all fronts.
Hamm it Up
Oh hey, nothing to see here. Just a casual pic of John Hamm and…hang on, is that a totally changed man? Uh, yeah it is. User TheKnightLife dropped 50 pounds in 9 months, and gets to have his before picture be one with John Hamm in it. Cool cool cool.
Gains, Gains, Gains
Talk about a quick turnaround. User manasneo started his fitness journey a mere five months ago, and now he’s a changed man! He went from 229lbs to 187lbs, and picked up some serious muscle. Now he can play tennis and football easily!
One Way to Drop Baby Weight
Well, a good start to losing baby weight is to have the baby. But after that, it’s all on you — so user watermelonllama took measures into her own hands. After starting a high carb, plant-based diet, she’s 43 pounds down.
All Smiles
User electrifyyolife didn’t lose her smile…but she did lose 70 pounds, and all in 6-7 months!
She spent 2018 keeping that weight off, and it’s clearly paid off for her.
Ups and Downs
Yo-yoing doesn’t mean the end of the world. Take user mulder323, who went from 301lbs to 166lbs, back up to 230lbs, and then down again to 183lbs.
Since September of 2018, he’s lost 30 pounds. Don’t give up hope if you go up again! What goes up, can come down.
Keeping It Off
User thegamerkat’s journey is a long one — she first lost the weight 6 years ago, going from 215lbs to 140lbs and staying there until 2018. In the later half of 2018, she dropped 20lbs more and hit her goal weight of 120.
How she does it? Healthy eating and the gym.
Gym Days
Hitting the gym doesn’t mean breaking yourself. User Kurr4 went consistently, whether she broke a sweat or not. She started lifting, too, and is now down 25 pounds and up in muscles.
Respect.
GG (Gaming Groceries)
After years of a sedentary life playing video games, user Dimense got a job at a grocery store and really started to move. He’s now down 50 pounds, and confidently sports a tee that says “I get enough exercise pushing my luck.” Nice, nice.
Senior Year
What’s senior year for, other than graduating? Well, for user chaseap, it was for losing 95 pounds. He hit the gym and dieted his way from 255lbs to 160lbs, doing a combo of cardio and lifting.
A 2018 Glo-Up
User Skinneeeer spent 2018 kicking b**t.
He went from 270lbs to 170lbs, dropping a total of 100lbs and gaining one pretty awesome beard. He used the LostIt app for his journey!
Dedication
User bapos20 did things the old-fashioned way: basic exercise!
She spent 30-40 minutes, 3-4 times per week on the treadmill and the elliptical, and changed her diet to include more protein and veggies.
Diet First
One step at a time is a thing that seems to have worked for user throwitaway135246. After changing her diet and counting her calories, she slowly began to integrate working out into her routine.
Now she’s 45 pounds down!
Hustle
For user emilyelizah, it’s all about patience.
Combining basic exercise with lifting, she managed to lose 40 pounds from March 2018 to January 2019. Not too bad at all, I’d say!
Goodbye, 2018 Self
This is truly jaw-dropping. User ByteStix shed 150lbs in one year, going form 370 pounds to 220 and changing his entire look.
He went back up to 250, but that doesn’t mean he’s failed–he’s on a journey, and he’s doing great.
A New Year’s Resolution
User Knnag’s journey took her from 211lbs to 152lbs in exactly a year–NYE 2017 to NYE 2018!
She achieved her goal by seeing a nutritionist and having a vertical sleeve gastrectomy performed on her stomach.
January to January
This is a resolution kept for sure. User DonkeyKong98 started 2018 at 293lbs and started 2019 at 193lbs–a 100lb difference!
She credits “lazy keto” and no carbs for her weight loss.
