While bragging is never an attractive trait, everyone deserves to boast about their accomplishments from time to time.
This could be graduating from college, getting a great job promotion, or even making it out of bed five days in a row (woo-hoo!).
But then, there are the people who take bragging too far — both with how much they brag and with what they’re bragging about.
See what we mean with these 19 unimpressive things people are very proud of (but shouldn’t be).
Leased cars

Unless you paid for the car in full and actually own it, it’s not much of a flex. Yet, people still boast about their cars on social media and act like they’re rolling in the cash. Let us know when you’re not paying 700+ on car payments per month!
Bragging about their parents’ money

“I work in a Casino and you wouldn’t believe how many young people show up who are obviously too young to have earned enough money to drop hundreds of thousands of dollars, so you know it’s their parents’ money. They flaunt this money around like it’s their hard work or good ideas that helped them earn it.” – u/ Arsis82
Their smoking habits

It’s pretty sad that people think this is something to be proud of. This Redditor who works in a weed store wrote that the amount of people they have seen boast about how long they’ve smoked or how much they smoke is outrageous.
Being rude to others

“Every time some guy tells me that he takes no [expletive] and nobody dares to mess with him, I get as far away from him as I possibly can. It’s generally a bad sign that he’s just gonna be rude at best and violent at worst.” – u/ conustextile
Knowing someone famous

Unless you’re actually friends or related to a celebrity, don’t try to name-drop to make yourself seem more important! Most of the time, these stories are largely exaggerated, with the celeb being someone they saw from a far distance.
Being a workaholic

“The ones that never leave work. The ones that are at work 2x more than they need to be. Then proceed to expect everyone to be like that and work that hard, especially under paid and definitely under appreciated.” -u/ KyokuAisaka
Not sleeping enough and bragging about it

Unfortunately, a lot of this comes down to hustle culture. People think they are superior to others for neglecting sleep by working long, hard hours. This only hurts their health in the long run!
Online IQ and personality tests

“I really don’t see how you can be proud that you got a specific hogwarts house or Myers-Briggs type when you can easily just answer however you want to to get the desired result.” – u/ RedditUser123234
DUIs

Wait, what?! This Redditor who’s in college has encountered people who brag about getting a DUI (driving under the influence) charge. This is not something to brag about! You’re putting your life and the lives of others at risk.
Being a lazy father

“I had a coworker who was proud of the fact that despite having four children, he had never changed a diaper. Someone chastised him and said he was just a bad father.” – u/ Westph6132
Not reading books since leaving school

Yikes. We want to address these people, but will they even be able to read what we write?
One Redditor was in a master’s program with a guy who was extremely proud of the fact that he didn’t read. He could, but chose not to. In a master’s degree program. Let that sink in!
Pain intolerance

“Guy at my old job used to make disparaging remarks every day about me wearing gloves to pick up the large, heavy, sharp, and extremely hot steel caul plates coming out of an industrial lamination autoclave. Dude, just because you fried your nerves years ago and can’t feel it when you’re grabbing them barehanded doesn’t mean you’re not doing damage to your body… it doesn’t make you look cool, just foolish and ignorant.” – u/ Stalfos1504
Not wearing protective equipment in dangerous jobs

Sorry, Chad, but ignoring basic safety doesn’t make you look tough! It makes you look stupid.
This Redditor who works for a tree service company has seen loads of guys brag about not using eye protection, chaps, helmets, etc. We’ll see how tough they feel when they have a can. cut in their leg.
Having a loud car

It’s extremely cringe-worthy when someone with a loud car revs their engine as loudly as they as can. Trust us, no girl is looking at her friends and saying, “I want to talk to that guy.”
Their sex life

“Bragging about having bodies (the count of how many people they have had sex with) and bragging about how they have hoes…. then bash people for being virgins and not having ‘hoes.'” – u/ SideshowBob31
Their eye color

Why brag about something that you didn’t do anything to earn? This Redditor was in a class with a girl who would swear up and down that her eyes changed color with her mood (e.g. angry = red. They just smiled and nodded and spoke to her as little as possible the rest of the year.
Having a certain taste in music

“By all means, discuss music you love and be passionate about it. But stop with the superiority complexes. I don’t care if someone listens to mainstream, underground, classical, etc. What I care about is open-mindedness.” – u/ NudesForHighFive
Their driving skills

“Their self proclaimed ‘extraordinary driving skills,’ while not even having basic driving etiquettes and showing utter disregard of rules. Getting somewhere fast in heavy traffic, while driving rashly, is not a skill, rather a next level idiocy. You might not care for your own life, but others do.” – u/ Big_Newspaper_4990
Mommy wine culture

“Spending your children’s lives completely blitzed on ‘just wine’ is gross, irresponsible, and probably doing significant damage to your children’s mental and physical health.” – u/ Xxmissvxx
