I’ve always thought that if I could design something truly unique, I too could be a millionaire , ha, ha. Sadly, it’s not as easy as it sounds. Creative minds out there have a keen sense of marrying aesthetic with a purpose in mind, and that, my friends, is the real key here.
If you can do that, you can create an awesome product . The following items are the perfect examples of that, and the people who created them are pretty brilliant.
This Pen

If you are a student, why would you have to carry a pen, ruler, level, and stylist separately when you can have it all in one product. Aha! That’s exactly what this pen here does, and I don’t know about you, but I love that. It’s so handy, no?
This Picnic Table

This world needs to be more inclusive, especially for people with mobility issues. Do you agree with that? Well, if you do, I think you’re going to be pretty impressed by this picnic table here that makes it easier for a person in a wheelchair to join in. What do you think?
This Bench

“This bench in the library of Alexandria is inscribed with Shakespeare’s sonnets.”
Well, look at that. Isn’t this fantastic or what? I would love to visit this library because it looks so grand and then take a seat on this beach and read some Shakespeare. Wouldn’t that be nice?
These Knobs

Get a load of this idea here. This dentist’s office installed cabinet knobs that look just like toothpaste and a toothbrush. Isn’t that so fun? I love that. It’s exactly the type of dentist’s office I would like to visit, ha, ha.
These Hallway Lights

Speaking of function and aesthetic, what do you think of these hallway lights here? Aren’t they so amazing? I have to admit I’ve never seen something like this before, and I dig it a lot. It creates such a cool atmosphere, no?
This Shopping Bag

If you just bought yourself some glasses, would you expect the store to hand you a bag like this? Probably not, huh? This is exactly the kind of special touch I like to see in retail. I like a store that pays attention to even the smallest details.
This Car Wiper Decal

Somebody spotted this car while they were driving, and the only thing they kept thinking about was how much they wanted to see the tail in action, ha, ha. I would have loved to see that, too. And now I want to get that cat decal for our car.
This Lamp

Who here was a fan of origami when they were a child? I remember when they used to teach us how to do it in school, and it was a lot of fun. So if I could’ve gotten a pretty bird origami lamp like this one, I would have been a happy child.
This Cell Tower

“This cell tower in Bend, OR designed to blend into the environment. I’ve walked past it several times before even noticing it was not a real tree.”
Oh, my! It’s pretty cool when they try to get things like this to blend with the environment, huh?
This Bike Rack

I’m really fascinated by all the clever designs for bike racks I have been seeing everywhere these days. Check this one out somebody spotted at their orthodontist’s office. Isn’t that so funny or what?
This Mug

Check out this clever mug that comes with a teaspoon stand built-in. The handle got redesigned in such a way that’s it’s perfectly comfortable to hold. I enjoy ergonomic ideas like that, and I want to see more of them around.
This Dual Shop Sign

What happens when a butcher shop and a skate shop are next to each other on the same street? Well, they can take advantage of that and come up with a dual sign for both businesses just like that. Ha, ha, I love that idea.
This Cracker Box

Speaking of clever packaging, check this one out. Kudos to Nabisco’s new pop-open boxes, which actually let you fit your hand inside the cracker box for once. Is that right? I have to admit I’ve struggled with that, so I’m really looking forward to trying out this new box.
This Park Entrance

Who here loves to go for a walk in the park? That’s one of my favorite pastimes. However, I wish I could visit this circular entrance (Moon gate) to People’s park in Chengdu city, China. How cool is that?
This Toilet Design

Check out this very neat and efficient design on Japanese toilets. The handwash sink is attached so that you can wash your hands and reuse the water for the next flush. Clean water for your hands, used water for the toilet bowl. Nice!
This Bookend

Oh my goodness, I’m totally obsessed with this Yoda-inspired bookend. It looks just as if Yoda is using the force to hold the books up, hee-hee. Okay, this settles it. I need to get one of these for my fiancé. I think he will be blown away.
This Paintbrush Packaging

I’m such a fan of clever product packaging. I mean, why have a boring design when you can do something like that, huh? If this doesn’t make you pick up this paintbrush, I don’t know what will, ha, ha.
These Cups

“These cups/glasses in the Freiburg Football stadium have hollow handles, you can carry up to four in a single hand.”
Every stadium should implement having cups like these, huh? That would make carrying multiple drinks so much easier. Are you on board with that?
What did I tell you?

Clever and original ideas are everywhere if you only look hard enough, eh? It’s so much better to stumble upon genius designs than to see some duds. Do you agree with me? Have you seen any cool designs yourself? If you have, share with all of us — the more, the merrier.
