How Marie Osmond Lost 50lbs At 61-Years-Old

One of the most defining questions for our generation is are you a little bit country, or are you a little bit rock and roll?

Donny and Marie Osmond's impact on music and on our hearts can't be overstated, and even as they've grown up in front of our eyes, they continue to feel like members of our own family! Which is why it's so heartwarming to read about Marie's health and fitness journey. She's like our sister, too!

You didn't grow up in the '70s if you don't know who Donny and Marie are.

The two Osmond siblings had their own variety show, made their own music, and eventually would go on to headline their own Las Vegas show for eleven years, which is no small feat.

Also no small feat? Marie embarking on a weight loss journey that ended with her being 50 pounds lighter, which she's opened up about in a new interview.

"I grew up in an industry that was all about starvation and being a size zero," Marie said.

"Food from day one was an enemy. My body just got so messed up and I started packing the weight on. I had tried every diet you could imagine," Marie told Fox News. She said she started using Nutrisystem while on Dancing With The Stars because she "couldn't just starve and dance."

"And for me, it stuck."

"I never felt hungry and I was learning how to make healthier choices for myself. And that’s the thing. For me, it’s no longer about being skinny. It’s about being healthy. I want to take care of myself," Marie went on.

That's the best way to look at your body!

"You can’t live life if the shell that you’re living in is broken," Marie went on.

"You have to start with the physical. You have to have a healthy body to have a healthy mind. Dragging extra weight around just takes time away from you. There’s no way I could be on the floor and running around with my grandkids. I couldn’t do it then," Marie continued.

As someone who's often out of breath just chasing my cat around, I totally get this.

"Get a podcast and go out for a walk. I never listen to a podcast unless I’m moving somehow," came Marie's advice for how to get moving.

"There are so many shows available that it’s easy to find something that speaks to you. So for 2021, don’t listen to your podcast unless you’re walking. It’s a really great and easy way to get off the couch, go outside, walk and stimulate your brain and blood."

You heard her!

I think we should all make like Marie and get out there for more walks to help kickstart our own journey into health and fitness!
