All around us, there are things going on that we’ll never know about. The only hints we get about all that action is that sometimes, something gets left behind, be it popcorn kernels on a movie theater seat or a waft of perfume in the air.
Check out some of the cool things that we would have missed out on if they hadn’t left something behind for us.
It’s not a snowflake, but it’s just as special.

“A door shocked me while I was covered in drywall dust and you can see the path the electricity took,” the uploader explained. It’s amazing how easy it is to turn a simple static shock into something cool.
You can faintly make out that there are blue patches on this tub. They came from a person.

In rare cases, people can sweat blue — or red, green, yellow, pink, and even black. The condition is known as chromhidrosis . Neat!
If you thought your morning was rough, you can see that a mouse had a much worse morning.

As if it wasn’t bad enough that an owl picked it up and carried it off, the owl even managed to bump into a dewy car as it flew off.
Speaking of bad days…

Well, learning to ski can be tricky, and it’s going to come with a few falls from time to time. At least this one was picture-worthy.
Much like the owl, this flyer had some trouble with its route.

A bee loaded down with pollen smacked into this surface and created “a perfect pollen angel.”
Bonus art?

This can happen when you sleep on a fresh tattoo — although seldom does it leave such a perfect image behind. Here’s hoping it didn’t ruin all the hard work and talent that went into the tat!
If that was bonus art, this was accidental art.

Basically, a tomatillo rotted, leaving behind this delicate latticework of plant matter encasing a bunch of seeds.
And this isn’t artwork at all, though you would think it was.

That smiley face is a total coincidence, created by the arrangement of some crinoid fossils.
This wall isn’t textured.

Nor is it draped with fabric — well, not anymore. The uploader had a flag on their wall, and over the years, dust collected along the creases, leaving this impression behind when the flag was taken down.
Little air bubbles have gathered to show were a dog stepped.

As the uploader explained, it was a warm, sunny day, and the dish containing the water has some algae growing in it, so it was probably producing a bit of extra oxygen that day.
Those thin plastic table covers are great for many things.

Keeping spills and stains from ruining an actual tablecloth, for one. However, they’re not meant for hot mugs, and this bubble shows why.
We often joke about keeping our money in a mattress, but this is ridiculous.

That is about $20 million, and was found by Homeland Security while investigating a Multi-Level Marketing scam.
Well, this is awkward.

That pattern on the floor is a clean spot created by someone dropping habanero sauce. So, just think about that the next time you’re spicing up your burrito.
An even more expensive mess than it seems.

That’s because this oil stain was left behind by a washing machine. Even if it’s fixable, the owner might be better off just buying a new one.
You may think the famous Moai figures are simply enough that artisans could perfect them easily.

But the rejected versions littered around the quarry show that they were very particular about which figures were good enough to be moved to their final locations.
Wouldn’t it be great if all of your stuff turned this pretty at the end of its lifespan?

Mind you, I’ve never had a light bulb burn out in such an attractive fashion. Anybody else?
Believe it or not, we all learned about these in school.

At least, I hope we all learned about WWI in school — this is what some of the war’s trenches look like today.
If you live in a place with cicadas, these are probably familiar to you.

These translucent shells were left behind, and the way they’re lined up along the bark is kind of pretty, in an eerie way.
That was quite the face-plant.

The lighting makes it look like the face is actually coming out of the snow rather than the impression it actually is.
This is also an example of perfect packing snow doing cool things.

This perfect triangle fell out of the deep tread of a pair of boots after the wearing entered the house.
When this dead bird was found by fossil hunters in Sibera, they thought it was a recent death.

Only later did they realize that they’d actually found the first ever preserved bird from the ice age. The corpse, which is an old relative of the lark, is about 46,000 yeas old.
You’d be forgiven for assuming this is a set from some future *The Walking Dead* sequel.

This is actually a famous “car graveyard” in southern Belgium. The vehicles were owned by American soldiers stationed nearby during WWII. When they were sent home, shipping the cars was too expensive and they were left in hopes of coming back for them.
But they never did. Over the years, other people have left cars there too.
This photo from a Dehli Metro station looks like a scene from a horror movie.

But it’s actually just an imprint left behind by so many people sitting and leaning against the wall for years.
That could have been much worse.

I mean, how did this log end up spiked into the ground? A tornado, of course.
“The Fallen Astronaut” is a small memorial on the moon.

This wasn’t intended by NANA, but astronauts on Apollo 15 smuggled the figure and plaque on board and left it behind. The plaque lists the names of the American astronauts and Russian cosmonauts who died in the process of space exploration.
I wonder if all of these cars got ticketed.

Depending on where you live, it’s often illegal to leave your car on the road during street sweeping days.
That said, look how well the driver maneuvered the sweeper around each obstacle.
When the strap used to carry this boulder to its new home got stuck, it had to be sacrificed.

It seems weird to just leave it like that, but perhaps it was originally hidden beneath the gravel and has since come loose.
These ghostly impressions are actually the fingerprints of the people who installed the ductwork.

Aluminum doesn’t tarnish the same was as some other metals, but it can begin to oxidize. But the hand oils left by the person who held this vent in place have causes a slightly different reaction.
Your eyes aren’t fooling you.

Just a loose strap, flapping in the wind as the trucks rolls along, cleaned a perfect circle from the grime built up on this rig.
Everybody gets surprised here, apparently.

The quarter you need to rent one of these lockers pops right out, and they’ve landed on the floor below often enough to leave marks.
Henna tattoos are supposed to be more temporary.

But when you have an allergic reaction to the henna, they’ll stick around a bit longer.
Sometimes all it takes is a blast of cold.

This person left their body wash in their car for a few hours in the winter, and crystals formed inside.
