Not every movie that ever gets made can be a good one, and not every actor is going to absolutely love every role they ever play. Not that I can blame them — I certainly haven’t loved every job I’ve ever had either! We don’t expect actors to be as vocal about the movies they didn’t like as we are about our jobs, so when actors do speak out, it’s surprising.
Here are 15 actors who weren’t mincing their words when it came to projects they weren’t fans of.
Christopher Plummer / The Sound Of Music
It’s hard to think that anyone could hate The Sound Of Music , let alone someone IN the movie, but Christopher Plummer was not a fan. “It was so awful and sentimental and gooey. You had to work terribly hard to try and infuse some miniscule bit of humor into it,” he said .
Michelle Pfeiffer / Grease 2
If you think the sequel to Grease is a disgrace, you’re not alone — so does Michelle Pfeiffer. “I hated that film with a vengeance and could not believe how bad it was,” she said . “At the time, I was young and didn’t know any better.”
George Clooney / Batman And Robin
While Clooney appreciates what the Batman franchise did for his career, he’s not exactly wild about the movies. He said it was “still the biggest break I ever had and it completely changed my career, even if it was weak and I was weak in it,” in 2011.
Gwyneth Paltrow / Shallow Hal
Shallow Hal is not a movie that’s aged particularly well, especially not in the eyes of its star, Gwyneth Paltrow, who said of the movie, “For some reason, the clothes they make for women that are overweight are horrible. I felt humiliated because people were really dismissive,” and that the whole thing was a “disaster.”
Halle Berry / Catwoman
Halle has no love lost for the 2004 film she won a Razzie for! In her acceptance speech , she said, “I want to thank Warner Bros. for casting me in this piece of [expletive], god-awful movie,” adding, “It was just what my career needed. I was at the top, now I’m at the bottom.”
Katherine Heigl / Knocked Up
Katherine wasn’t a huge fan of the Seth Rogen-lead comedy Knocked Up that helped start her career in 2007, saying that the movie “paints the women as shrews, as humorless and uptight, and it paints the men as lovable, goofy, fun-loving guys.”
Robert Pattinson / Twilight
Rob famously never beat around the bush when it came to how he felt about the iconic Twilight franchise or his character, Edward Cullen. “The more I read the script, the more I hated this guy, so that’s how I played him, as a manic-depressive who hates himself,” he said .
Daniel Craig / Spectre
When asked if he was interested in making another James Bond movie after Spectre , Daniel Craig famously responded , “I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists. All I want to do is move on.”
He did, of course, later sign on for one more Bond film.
Daniel Radcliffe / Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince
“I’m just not very good in it. I hate it,” Daniel said about one of the later installments in the Potter franche. “My acting is very one-note, and I can see I got complacent.”

Sly did not mince his words when asked about his worst movie. “The worst film I’ve ever made by far… maybe one of the worst films in the entire solar system, including alien productions we’ve never seen,” he wrote .
Christian Bale /Newsies
Christian wasn’t a fan of what doing this 1992 musical film did to his reputation. “At 17, you want to be taken seriously—you don’t want to be doing a musical. Time healed those wounds. But it took a while,” he revealed .
Harrison Ford / Blade Runner
Ford was not very big on the sci-fi film that many consider one of his best roles. “I didn’t like the movie one way or the other, with or without,” he admitted . “In terms of how I related to the material, I found it very difficult.”
