10+ Celebrities Who Refuse To Use Social Media

Social media has become the defining invention of our generation. No matter where you are in the world, social media connects us through the share of a photo or the click of a button.

That said, there are still those who aren't on board with the whole trend. See what I mean and check out these 10+ celebrities who still refuse to use social media in 2020.

Scarlett Johansson.

Scarlett doesn't mince words when it comes to expressing her opinions about social media.

The A-List actress has stated that she can't think of anything she'd rather do less than share the trivial, mundane details of her life.

Sandra Bullock.

There's a pretty simple explanation as to why Sandra Bullock refuses to participate in social media — she despises taking selfies.

Sandra believes that we aren't doing a good job of representing ourselves honestly online. What do you think?

Joaquin Phoenix.

Joaquin Phoenix has always been a bit of an enigma. He's an incredibly private person with absolutely no interest in participating in social media conversation.

He openly admits that he wouldn't even know where to begin. Maybe some more Joker-dancing Tik Tok vids?

George Clooney.

At no point in time has George Clooney ever offered up a reason or an explanation as to why he refuses to engage with social media.

Which I think is a shame because a selfie with George and his pet pig would have broken the internet.

Brad Pitt.

Brad has been a recluse for most of his career. He fully acknowledges that social media would have been useful in his younger years.

But now that he's in his mid-50s, and has a successful career as an actor, he hardly sees a point.

Tina Fey.

There just aren't enough hours in the day for Tina to participate in social media. She's a full-time actor, writer, producer, and businesswoman.

Any time that she isn't working is spent with her family, not crafting clever quips for Twitter.

Christian Bale.

Why does Christian Bale do anything? Only he knows. As to why he doesn't involve himself in the frivolities of social media, he hasn't given a definitive response.

But part of being a method actor lies in being mysterious and impossible to pin down. Posting random selfies kind of destroys that image.

Jennifer Lawrence.

Jennifer admits to having had trouble mastering the art of e-mail, so Twitter is something she doesn't want to touch with a ten-foot pole.

Which is a shame, because she's the exact kind of person who should have Twitter!

Matt Damon.

Matt describes himself as an analog dinosaur when it comes to the tech space. He might fire off the occasional email but he's lost when it comes to Twitter and Facebook.

This is interesting because Matt's daughters are now starting to use social.

Daniel Radcliffe.

If Daniel Radcliffe had caved to the pressures of social media, he never would have made it past the third Harry Potter film.

Sometimes, when you take on such an important cultural icon, it's best to not listen to what any troll has to say.

Rachel McAdams.

Rachel isn't the most tech-savvy of people. She prefers to listen to the news on the radio and doesn't even own a television!

She doesn't understand social media, nor does she want to.

Emily Blunt.

Emily doesn't believe that social media and she are a good fit. So instead of going against the grain, she just chooses to abstain entirely from any and all platforms.

She says she has a hard enough time texting, let alone tweeting.

Benedict Cumberbatch.

According to Benedict, he can't tweet to save his life. He doesn't have social media because he freely admits that it would consume him.

Better to just stay out of the arena, so as to avoid things getting too...Strange.

Robert Pattinson.

Batman doesn't have time for social media and neither does Robert Pattinson. Although he did recently admit to checking a Twitter feed, but only in order to stay abreast of the latest hip-hop news going on in the world.

Does that count?

Keanu Reeves.

It all boils down to privacy with Keanu Reeves. That's why he refuses to partake in any social media.

That, and he also claims that he doesn't have anything to comment on. Oh Keanu, you're so humble!
