Quotes For When You Still Sleep Like A Flailing Toddler

I know that I'm not alone in my need to have a glass of water beside the bed when I go to sleep. I also know that I'm probably not alone in that it's only when I don't have a glass on the nightstand, that I wake up in the middle of the night with a desert for a throat.

Funny how that works, right?

There are two big problems with just keeping a glass there, though.

First, there's the dust problem. If you leave the same glass there all day, by the time bedtime rolls around again, you need to refresh the water because of the thin layer of dust that has settled on the surface.

And that feels like a waste.

Second, if you're anything like me, there is a high probability that when reaching for the glass in the dark, you'll knock it over instead.

Oh, and I suppose that raises the third issue of balancing the pros and cons of a heavier glass that could break if knocked to the floor versus a plastic cup that's simply easier to knock over in the first place.

I have tried a number of options over the years.

Shorter, wider glasses are less likely to topple, but have more surface area to get dusty.

Water bottles solve both the dust and spill problems, but add a required level of manual dexterity that often results in me missing my mouth with the drinking spout.

But finally, I stumbled upon the ultimate solution: the humble sippy cup.

Stay with me here! I'm not talking specifically about the brightly-colored cheap plastic ones for kids. Those are too flimsy.

Instead, go to a coffee shop or another place that sells travel mugs and get a nice, heavy ceramic or glass one with a sippy cup-style lid. Bonus points if there is a sealable flap over the drinking hole, because that will keep all the dust out.

Covers all the bases, right? You can get a cute one to match your decor, it will stay dust-free so that you aren't dumping out water you don't drink, and its got enough weight to require a good knock to topple over.
