Kanye West Has Dropped Out Of The 2020 Presidential Race, According To Campaign Member

Politics is always difficult to get involved in, especially when you're a celebrity. However, there's lots of precedent to show that famous people can successfully get involved — Ronald Reagan was an actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger was an action star, and even Donald Trump, the current President, was a reality TV star.

Kanye West threw his hat in the ring earlier this month, but it might not have worked out for him.

On July 4th, Kanye West surprised many when he announced he was running for President.

While the rapper had expressed interest in running for office before, many were surprised that he was running during the 2020 election, which is happening just a few short months away in November.

While he received support from Kim Kardashian, Elon Musk, and Chance The Rapper, it looks like things might not be working out for 2020.

It would not have been an easy road to get on the ballot for Kanye.

To run as a third party candidate, Kanye would've needed 132,781 signatures in less than a week to hit the July 15 deadline to be able to be on the ballot in Florida.

A campaign team member Steve Kramer told Intelligencer that the team was "working over [the] weekend [in Florida], formalizing the FEC."

However, despite that work, it seems Kanye changed his mind. "He’s out," Kramer revealed.

"I’ll let you know what I know once I get all our stuff canceled. We had over 180 people out there today," Kramer continued, adding that Kanye's team was disappointed about the end of his campaign.

"I have nothing good or bad to say about Kanye," Kramer said.

"Everyone has their personal decision about why they make decisions. Running for president has to be one of the hardest things for someone to actually contemplate at that level."

It looks like it may have been too difficult for Kanye this late in the game, but who knows about 2024?
