Kelly Ripa Shuts Down Haters Who Criticized Her Appearance During Quarantine

Kelly Ripa, like many celebs, has never been one to back down from her haters.

If something upsets her, she'll discuss it — even if that means doing so on TV.

That was the case recently as the 49-year-old shut down the trolls who have been criticizing her appearance during the at-home version of Live with Kelly and Ryan lately.

This whole quarantining thing hasn't been easy for Kelly Ripa.

On Wednesday's at-home episode of Live with Kelly and Ryan, the 49-year-old co-host admitted that while she's currently isolating with her husband, Mark Consuelos, and their three children, some of her kids won't hug her.

She has daughter Lola, 18, and sons Michael, 22, and Joaquin, 17, with Consuelos.

“I’m not going to lie, okay? I’m going to let you in on a little secret: I’m currently not speaking to two of my three kids. I’m not talking to two of them,” she confessed to co-host Ryan Seacrest.

“Just because, we’re all in the same boat together, right?”

“I haven’t gotten to hug my parents. I want to hug my parents. I miss hugging my parents,” she explained as she got emotional.

“And my kids, like, won’t hug me. And I’m like, ‘Guys, we’ve all been in lockdown together.'"

"'We’re fine. You can give me a hug. It’s fine.'”

“Anyway, I’m sorry. I don’t know why I’m crying. Maybe I’m just going to get my period, who knows,” Ripa said.

“Sorry, sorry. Sometimes we forget that we’re on. Did I shout that, or did my inner monologue come out? Sorry, didn’t mean to do that.”

That's not the only tough thing the television host has been through during quarantine.

She's also had to deal with trolls criticizing her appearance while filming the at-home version of Live With Kelly and Ryan.

But instead of letting their comments get her down, she fired back.

It all began when Ryan brought up viewer comments during Friday's episode.

"You know, people love to comment on the home edition of the show and a couple people may have said that every once in a while we're shiny in our DIY show process..."

This caused Kelly to cut him off and address the critics head-on.

Homegirl did not hold back.

"First of all, let me just say, to people commenting about our appearance, how dare you and you’re lucky that we actually put clothes on."

"It’s harder than you think to roll out of bed and come to a TV show."

"But, I'm not going to do that. I keep telling myself, 'You are a professional and this is still a TV show, and the days still matter.' It's kind of like my mantra."

The mom of three continued on boldly:

"I don’t care. I have a new outlook on life. Certain things don’t matter any more and my appearance is one of those things that just don’t matter.”

You go, girl! Sweatpants are everything right now.

Ryan doesn't exactly share the same outlook as she does on appearances.

This caused her to lovingly tease him about that.

“I believe that you are wearing bronzer and I think it looks rather fetching on you,” she said.

“And I believe that you are wearing [Guerlain’s] Terracotta, if I’m not mistaken," she added.

Kelly ended up being right since Seacrest showed viewers the powder and the brush that he uses.

“Here’s what it looks like,” he said. “This is what’s in my drawer to avoid a glisten-y presentation.”

As for Ripa, she's more low-maintenance when it comes to beauty.

She'll use old products she finds around the house.

“I’m not proud of this. I for one have not ordered makeup and I’m just using what I have,” she said.

“Some of it, I’m sure, is probably toxic. It’s probably way past its expiration date.”

Another beauty-related thing Kelly recently admitted is how she's been relying on her 18-year-old daughter's beauty products during the quarantine.

”I keep putting on my daughter’s self-tanner, thinking that will help,” she said during an Instagram Live with dancer Tiler Peck.

“All of my clothes, all of my hair products, and all of my makeup is locked in the studio, which is closed because of everything that is going on.”

“I realized it was such a blessing to have this place to keep everything,” Ripa added.

“So now I’m just in an 18-year-old self-tanner and workout clothes.”

What do you think about her comments? Was she right to fire back at the critics? Or did she take it too personally?
