Disney+ Has Edited Out A NSFW Joke From 'Toy Story 2'

There are a lot more people watching Disney+ right now or who are eyeing that subscription button since we're all stuck at home, some of us with children we're supposed to be entertaining. But, some people have noticed that one of the classic Disney films is not exactly the way we remember it in theaters.

Disney+ has been making headlines recently for editing movies.

A recent one that went viral was covering up a naked butt in the movie Splash with some...not so convincing CGI hair, which you can see in the tweet above.

Even classic animated films are now getting cleaned up for new audiences.

Sure, it makes sense for Disney+ to remove swear words and racial slurs from much older movies, but the scene cut from Toy Story 2 is one that took on a new light after the rise of the #MeToo movement and the fall of Harvey Weinstein.

*Toy Story 2* was never a particularly raunchy movie.

There was, of course, a joke or two thrown in intended to fly over children's heads and make their parents laugh, and it's one of those jokes from the very end of the movie that was removed.

During the bloopers at the end of the film, there's a scene involving two Barbies and Stinky Pete.

When Woody spins Pete's box around, instead of being ready for his lines, Pete is talking to two Barbies and asking them, "So you two are absolutely identical?"

"You know, I'm sure I can get you a part in 'Toy Story 3'," he continues, before noticing that the camera is on him.

It's not outright a dirty joke, but the casting couch implications are definitely questionable, especially after the rise of the #MeToo movement. According to Variety, the scene had already been cut from the 2019 re-release of the film as well.

This is definitely a joke it makes sense to remove.

You can see the original joke for yourself right here, but you definitely won't catch it when you're streaming the movie on Disney+.

Other classic films that have been edited include *Lilo And Stitch*.

The original scene on the left showed Lilo hiding from her sister in a dryer, but for Disney+, Lilo now hides behind a pizza box, as seen on the right. This was likely done to not give kids any ideas about hiding in dryers, which can be dangerous.

The show *Gravity Falls* had an edit made that surprised even the show's creator, Alex Hirsch.

Despite the unedited version of the show already airing on a Disney channel, a symbol that means nothing was erased from a character's hat, although it was kept on in the preview thumbnails.

Some fans are not here for the editing of the film.

"Imagine growing up watching Toy Story 2 as a kid and then watching it as an adult and feeling so insulted you edit it for the rest of history," one fan tweeted.

Other fans thought it was an understandable edit to make.

Some fans felt like the scene was always inappropriate for kid viewers and were glad to see that it was removed from later versions of the movie.

What do you think?

Should Disney+ continue to remove scenes and concepts that are no longer appropriate, or is this a form of censorship that should be avoided? Let us know your opinion in the comments!
