Life for parents in quarantine has been, well, interesting.
But life for a mother with a newborn baby?
In a rare interview, Cameron Diaz just gave all the details on what this is like during this strange, strange time.
She and husband Benji Madden welcomed their daughter, Raddix Chloe Wildflower Madden, on December 30th, but they didn't share the news of this until a week later.
They wrote that they were "overjoyed" with the news.
A source close to the couple soon echoed these comments to People.
“Cameron always imagined what motherhood would be like," they said.
"You can tell that it’s so much more than she ever imagined. She really is the happiest ever. Spending the past couple of weeks with her daughter has been magical for her.”
“They waited for so long to have a baby, so now they are just enjoying their daughter," the source continued.
They continued:
“They spend time with their families, and close friends at home but don’t take their daughter out,” the insider added. “They are very protective of her and careful because of the flu season.”
This means that Cameron has to be more protective than ever.
While she's known to live a very private life, she did speak to Who What Wear CEO Katherine Power recently on what life is like with a baby during these strange times.
"So my life has been completely quiet and still for the last few months. But I was able to have my friends over all the time. And now I just don’t see anybody.”
“But it’s nice, and I love a bubble and being in the womb of my home with my husband and cooking,” she added.
“But at the same time it’s crazy that you can’t go out to the world right now.”
“I love being a mother. It’s the best, best, best part of my life,” she said.
When it comes to how the Benji and Cameron are spending their time together in quarantine, they're doing a lot better than some celeb couples (ahem, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard).
“I have to cook at night. I know people hate cooking… I drink [wine] every night it’s my wind down for the day."
“After we do bath time with our baby and we put her to sleep, Benji puts her to bed, he’s so good. He’s such an amazing father. I’m so lucky he’s my baby’s father. He’s incredible. He puts her down and I go into the kitchen and I pour myself a nice glass of red wine. I start my cooking, I put on my show, whatever it is.”
When this happens, she reminds herself to stay present.
“I stay here and in the now," she said, by focusing on “what I have right now."
Fans should also prepare to see more of Cameron (and maybe even baby!) since she wants to post on Instagram more.
"I'm gonna give it a go, she said. "I feel like at this time with everything that's going on, it's really hard for me to think about leaving here, my home, and like going out into the world to reach ppl and I know that Instagram allows you to be able to not have to leave your home or go out into the world."
Please let this happen!
