Fans Already Have Theories About Elliot Stabler's New 'Law & Order: SVU' Spin-Off

BOM BOM! That was the sound that came into my living room every night at 11 PM. In our house, Law & Order wasn't just something to watch - it was a religion.

Now after nearly a decade apart, one of the most beloved characters from Dick Wolf's universe is set to make his return.

Let's begin with a brief history of 'Law & Order'.

NBC

Law & Order first aired on NBC over 20 years ago.

It was a show dedicated to showing how "the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups: the police who investigate crime and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders."

BOM BOM!

Then after about 10 years, the spin-offs start happening.

NBC

The first and by far the most popular of these was called Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.

This task force was dedicated to victims of sexual crimes.

Soon after, we met Detective Elliot Stabler.

NBC

Christopher Meloni as Elliot Stabler was a career-defining role.

The star even received an Emmy nomination for his efforts.

After 12 years on the force, Stabler retired.

NBC

The sudden off-screen retirement of one of the series most notable and beloved characters had many fans up in arms.

But almost a decade later, fans are getting what they wanted: his sweet return.

In a recent announcement made via ET Canada, it was confirmed that Meloni would indeed be reprising his role once again for yet another Law & Order spinoff series!

And it would appear that 'Law & Order' fans everywhere are thrilled.

These excited fans couldn't wait to take to the Twittersphere to voice their excitement.

Really, really thrilled...

Everyone loves a good looking man solving crimes and saving people.

However, there still are very few details about the show.

Other than the fact that the show supposedly revolves around organized crime, creators have offered very little in terms of plot.

Which has brought up a lot of unanswered fan questions.

This is just the tip of the iceberg.

Fans definitely won't stop asking these questions until the show has aired.

They are also thinking that there will be some wild crossovers.

Since the show supposedly takes place in New York, there have been rumors flying about a possible crossover with One Chicago.

But there's only one reunion we want to see, and it's the theory that is overflowing Twitter the most.

NBC

Fans are theorizing and hoping that Stabler and Benson will have a reunion.

Could we possibly see a romantic relationship finally evolve?

Twitter is literally BEGGING to have this happen.

Who can blame them? We have been baited long enough!!

Even Meloni himself seems sarcastically excited about the news!

Well, wherever you are on social media Chris, we're just glad to finally have you back where you belong!

And fans finally have a reason to watch Law & Order again!

Celebrate good times - come on!
