People Are Panic-Buying Everything From Grocery Stores — Except Dasani Water

The coronavirus pandemic has a lot of people freaking out, particularly over the potential threat of suddenly being forced into mandatory isolation. In fact, people are so scared that they're flocking to their nearest Costco, Walmart, or other grocery store in order to panic-buy everything in sight.

But despite all those empty shelves of hand sanitizer, toilet paper, and canned goods, there's one product that seems to have missed the stockpile mark for all you preppers out there. And that's Dasani water.

Because even when facing serious quarantine, people still don't want to drink Dasani.

People all over the country have been taking to social media to post pictures of their empty stores.

Nervous shoppers are doing whatever they can to provide themselves with some peace of mind during these trying times. And if that means hoarding twenty packs of toilet paper in their bathrooms then by golly, that's exactly what they're going to do.

But even though bottles of water are also flying off the shelves, it seems these panicked consumers can still afford to be a little picky with their purchases.

While everything else is quickly selling out, you can rest assured that there will almost certainly still be packs of Dasani water at your local supermarket.

For some reason, people just aren't interested in stocking up on Dasani.

People have some surprisingly strong opinions about Dasani water.

And there's no time like a crisis to make those feelings abundantly clear. While there must be some Dasani fans out there, they weren't showing up in stores.

For some folks, it was just the affirmation they needed in troubled times.

Hey, things have changed a lot in an incredibly short period of time. You have to take solace in the things that are staying the same, right?

A few Twitter users have attempted to explain this phenomenon by reasoning that people simply don't like the taste of Dasani.

"Id rather drink out the back of the toilet in an apocalypse," one user boldly admitted. "If all that's left is @dasaniwater then just let me die."

Another added, "I don't know how but Dasani has an oil-like consistency. It's disgusting."

One person gave perhaps the best explanation of all and said it has to do with this particular bottled water's ingredients.

As the user explained,

"They add salt... this is the ingredient list just copied and pasted from the website: 'PURIFIED WATER, MAGNESIUM SULFATE, POTASSIUM CHLORIDE, SALT. *+ *ADDS NEGLIGIBLE AMOUNT OF SODIUM +MINERALS ADDED FOR TASTE PURIFIED BY REVERSE OSMOSIS NON-CARBONATED.'"

As it turns out, Dasani isn't the only product that's being left behind on otherwise barren store shelves.

People aren't rushing to pick up vegan food either, as seen in the above tweet. And they seem to have absolutely no interest in pork either.

So I guess when it comes down to it, the threat of total isolation doesn't mean people are about to start buying the sort of groceries they usually avoid. We may be desperate, but we aren't that desperate. Yet.

And as one person pointed out, a lot of people are in for some bland lockdown meals.

I don't know, maybe they have a game plan beyond salt and pepper, maybe they have an herb garden at home, but at times like this, you should really be kind to yourself, right? Treat yourself to some flavor!

Now, will Dasani and any other brands left behind on store shelves during this unprecedented period take notice?

Because if there's anything they should be paying attention to, it's the fact that, even in the most panicked-buying period of our lifetimes, desperation isn't motivation enough to change shoppers' minds about their products.
