Rescuers Thought Kids Painted Eyebrows On Dog, But They're Totally Real

Thick, manicured eyebrows are totally on-trend right now, but one particular dog in Russia doesn't need a trip to the salon to rock it.

When residents of the Russian city of Bratsk found a stray dog wandering the streets, they took it to the Dobriye Ruki shelter.

Besides wanting to make sure the dog was healthy, there was concern about abuse, because it looked like some pranksters had painted thick black eyebrows onto its face for a laugh.

But when the shelter gave the good girl a bath, they discovered that the brows were 100% natural.

They've made the educated guess that there is husky genes in this mixed breed, which seems like a pretty good assumption because husky brows are magical.

After the dog's photos were shared by the shelter, a woman named Oksana Maymsina knew she had to adopt the pooch.

Of course, it was obvious what name the dog should have: Frida, after the famous artist with famous brows.

"I am the happiest owner of the coolest dog ever. She even knows two commands: sit and come here. I got a bunch of toys for her. She sleeps on the bed," Oksana said.

As with any viral animal story, people were quick to find reasons to attack Oksana.

People accused her of stealing the dog, which is silly, because the shelter's info is public. If Frida did belong to a family at one time, she was found wandering the streets and spent 10 days in the shelter without anyone coming to claim her.

Others said she only chose Frida because of the internet fame the dog would bring her.

They said that if she really just wanted to help a shelter dog, she should have chosen a disabled dog or another one less likely to find a forever home. Which is just silly. All dogs deserve loving homes, but Oksana admits that she doesn't have the ability to give her all to a dog with special needs. She was looking for a loving companion and it's clear from the photos that Frida is just that.
