Despite Backlash, Scarlett Johansson Stands By Woody Allen: 'I Can’t Lie About The Way I Feel'

Well, it looks like ScarJo is going to be taking Woody Allen's side on this one. Is she in the wrong? Is she in the right? Or is this not that black and white?

At the end of the article, once you read her side, let us know what you think in the comments!

Let's start by saying this:

Wikimedia

There have been allegations out there that Woody Allen sexually abused his daughter Dylan Farrow.

This had led to a bit of shunning on Woody Allen, as these things tend to do.

Since then, tons of people have decided not to work with him anymore.

Wikimedia

Plenty of people have even stated that they regret the movies they starred in at all.

Regardless of the fact that some of these movies were the best in their careers.

Scarlett Johansson, however, is not one of those people.

She has stuck by Woody Allen no matter what, very obviously showing that she is a loyal friend.

But a lot of people hate her for it.

So recently, Scarlett Johansson shared her feelings on the whole ordeal.

She did an interview with Vanity Fair where she talked about how she perceives everything that happened.

“He maintains his innocence and I believe him.”

People did not like that response.

"I’m not a politician, and I can’t lie about the way I feel about things," she said.

"I don’t have that. It’s just not a part of my personality. I don’t want to have to edit myself, or temper what I think or say. I can’t live that way. It’s just not me."

She believes that by standing her ground on the situation, regardless of her beliefs, it shows her integrity.

Wikimedia

"And also I think that when you have that kind of integrity, it’s going to probably rub people, some people, the wrong way. And that’s kind of par for the course, I guess."

"I don’t know—I feel the way I feel about it,"

“It’s my experience. I don’t know any more than any other person knows. I only have a close proximity with Woody…he’s a friend of mine. But I have no other insight other than my relationship with him.”

And when asked about how she felt about the backlash, mostly from women, she replied:

Wikimedia

"I do understand how that is triggering for some people. But just because I believe my friend does not mean that I don’t support women, believe women."

She believes that every situation is different from the other.

"I think you have to take it on a case-by-case basis. You can’t have this blanket statement—I don’t believe that. But that’s my personal belief. That’s how I feel.”

But, having had enough, she shut down the conversation.

Wikimedia

"I think if I wanted to continue this conversation, it can be done personally with the people involved and not through statements to Vanity Fair. I don’t think that’s productive…it kind of feeds that sort of dragon."

So, no matter how many times she is asked about it, or how much hate she gets from it, ScarJo is not backing down.

She is very clear on her stance, and doesn't care what people have to say?
