"NTA. His child support is supposed to go to covering the costs of everything related to that child. His 'half' if you will. He is not obligated to cover 100% of the child's cost of living as the child is also hers. He does 50% she covers 50%. They have split custody. I would let him know if he refuses to budge on this that there will be an itemized bill for the time his son is with you guys. That would be fair. The court decided she would get 350$ a month and that's all he is legally bound to. If she is unable to cover the costs of their child with that and her own portion, she needs to go back to court to see if it can be revised. After my parents divorced my dad sent child support but my mom still had to work full time to cover her half of our expenses. It's not legally or morally ok to have one parent shoulder the majority of the financial burden in the case of a divided household."
